It's the past, 24 years ago, let's get over it. I'd rather energy was spent on the current problem...
Perhaps someone should contact the Regional Inspector of Monuments at English Heritage and see if they would even allow it to be moved? If not I am sure as Phil says there can be toughened glass put in place ?
Been nice knowing you :)

toughened glass alone is not the answer the whole fabric of the shelter needs serious renovation work.

Yes, it just seems a complete waste of everyone's time and money to keep putting glass back every few months in the forlorn hope that 'it won't get broken this time.' Surely there is an alternative that will look similar and ultimately work out cheaper.
(On another note, please no more of this pointless point-scoring, it seriously puts off contributing).

have to agree with phil on both of those sentiments.
i normally duck out when it gets to the stage of point scoring.

I've try to keep away from the political point scoring posts now, good for my blood pressure.
Like Scotchie's idea, but would suggest they also may be able to help with other suggestions if they have experience of vandalism in similar situations elsewhere and solutions that have worked in stopping it .
On the other hand they may come up with a worse and more expensive situation than the current one if you get a jobsworth involved!

Replacing the glass in the seafront shelters must have cost DHB a fortune over the years and I am sure if there was a suitable alternative to glass they would use that, I despair at the mind set of the "people" that cause such damage, it is not always teenagers that are responsible.

Anything major is likely to need a decision from EH if it is moved or probably even if the glass is changed so something different as it is Grade 2 listed.

With all due respect to Sheila, Keith, she is not the only Councillor for this ward; there's 7 altogether. She is obviously your favourite.

ROGER;
I don't do favourites, as for the cllrs;
i have already contacted those that i feel will, or can do something, you have commented already so thats fine.
Sheila is a regular contributor on the forum so just trying to gain more support,
although i' have spoken to sheila who is opposed to any removal from it's present site

With all respect to Sheila she usually only comments on things to do with the hall and very seldom on council matters.
I am getting fed up with the petty sniping that seems to be happening at the moment, is it the lack of sun or some other reason.

Rather strange how people have turned on sheila, it what was just a call for other forumites who may have an interest/view
and sheia has contributed on a vast range o subjects(not just the hall)
I have asked others on other issues what there view may be
very strange that people have decided to take this line in what was just trying to engage another forumite
maybe just because she happens to hold labour membership
if that is the case thats sad political point scoring

I must have missed the posts in which people have turned on Sheila. Which thread were they on Keith? Certainly not this one.

Who has turned on Sheila? I have not seen any adverse comment about her on this forum and certainly nothing to do with her politics, I did not even know she was labour as I do not live in her ward.
For heavens sake take a happy pill Keith.

I will stick to the subject in hand(if sheila wishes to comment, that will be her choice)
going back to the issue, i support howards view that the tram shelter isd looking a little stale, and replacing the windows are costly to replace.
but as i'v said before, rather than give into the vandals there are pro active things that can be done, with a bit of positive thinking

I missed them to Peter. Engage another Forumite, I'm sure that if Sheila had a comment to make she would do so, without being dragged into a thread.
I'm the same as Ray, as soon as the point scoring starts I lose all interest in the thread.
