19:0478817I think this result deserves a separate thread - greatest day in the club's history.

19:0878819"Better half" went to the match - very happy with the result...now he is stuck in traffic on the way home...still that's a small price to pay for being there..

23:1478854Where it should have gone years ago Whitfield .In the meantime perhaps DDC will listen to me the Ward Councillor who has constanly asked for a Park and Ride scheme .On match days plus Rugby its no joke .
It will not be Cllr Collors idea .I first started on this subject over twenty years ago .I think its time for another question at Full Council. No good talking over a glass of beer ??

23:3978861Dover in away is like Susan Boyle ,they and us are living a Dream, and it will end soon ,but it is helping in abig way to make the public of Dover happy again, this has not happen for many ayear, and lets hope it will go on for some time.
I think the ground at this time is just about right, when the Dream does end it will be back to about 1000+of the public going to see them. But what would be great for the club in return for what they are doing for us,that they are given the ground they rent from the D.D.C. I say To the council please hand it over to them.It would save funding and it would realy feel home to the players and the fans.

00:0178863The ground holds 6500 as it is so no problems. Today is about a great result for the team representing Dover. Park and ride not needed but then i guess its all about what is Cllr Nicholas idea and what isnt!!

00:0878864I fully Agree with you Mr Harrison there is room to park for all and room in the ground for all to come at this time .Just hand the ground over to the club.

09:5478885Come on you lot please give the football club your support by going along with me in saying that the D.D.C. should now hand over the ground to them for good with no ties ,in return for what the club is doing for Dover.

09:5478886First of all I have no need to lighten up .This has been a very sad week for some of us councillors .Andrew I take my job very seriously .It is a well known fact that residents of River do have a job on match days getting in and out of River .Try getting out of the junction by Kearsney station before and after kick off .I have the photogrphic proof of cars parked on junctions and acroosss driveways .If more people walked then maybe .Parking in River at the best of times is a problem .
Vic you as usual are talking about something that is not feasible .DDC need every bit of revenue .
On match days a lot of people dont bother to go out
I know the ground is large enough it the surrounding residential roads that experience the problem .

09:5978887sue,thats why stagecoach provide a bus service to river.if all river residents got rid of there second and third cars there might be enough room for movement along lewisham road and all other roads in river.

10:0278888Anyway, well done to Dover without any politic`s. I`d like to have been working up at Hoo Junction again this weekend, where there are many Gillingham supporter`s. I could`ve given you all their views.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

10:1578889I say again the ground is in the Right place and there is lots of parking within walking of the Club, The Club is the Dover Football club and so in saying that it needs to be near to the centre so all can go to see them, and indeed many do walk from the town to the ground. And again I say again they are doing more to support our town then MOST so the DDC should see this aswell and reward them by handing the ground over, somtimes it is not all about cash ,and funding, there are other big things that happen and this one of them.

10:2078890Brian as someone who uses the local bus service to River you are talking a load of xxxx we arent lucky enough to have our own bus like Aycliffe.

10:3778898I do not use the bus alot but there are always a bus out at River, may be not so many at weekends . There is a bus every 20mins in River And to some other parishs that is good ,well we are part of Dover and lots need to get to the town etc. so it should be. but some parishs only get two bus aday, that is what I call bad.
Also it could be said if car is road tax etc they have the law and right to park on the road,as long as they do not block up drivways.

10:4278900there are not that many match days in a year, the problem is the same all over the country.
in the bigger leagues most people use public transport to get to and from matches.

10:4578901We know that Vic car taxed is legally allowed to park but not to obstruct road junctions and driveways .Well you said it you dont use the bus unlike Mel who knows what its like to board a crowded bus If more people used the bus to watch the football there would not be the problems .Why is it necessary tpo usee a car to travel a few yards down the road ??
No River is not part of Dover .If it were our precept would be even higher .

10:5478905The local bus service we share with Town, St Rads, River and Whitfield is a nightmare to say the least. Stagecoach need to review i think .
