Very weird that Tom, one of the strangest things you have said and that really is saying something.
The EU is the direct opposite to what the Conservative Party is all about. The EU is all big bossy government and collectivism, much more in tune with the core fundamental beliefs of Labour.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Should anyone care to read any of the founding principles of what is now the EU it is clear that the creation of closer trade, social and political links was borne of a desire to reduce the chance of war between European nations. As we are now in the longest period of peace in European history (since Roman times in fact) it is clear that this policy has worked. Further integration will further enhance this.
A well deserved award for an organisation that looks to the future rather than hankers for the past.

" Democracy is a stranger to the EU. Democracy is fine as long as the great unwashed vote the way the European masters want. "
-This seems to be exactly the Conservative line, as spoken by you.
"Give the wrong answer then you peasants must go and vote again until you give the right pro-EU answer."
-The NHS is safe in our hands - privatisation begins right from the off, then it's all stop - the 'listening' begins, all involved say NO! - privatisation of the NHS begins anew.
" European integration has been driven by deceit and lies right from the start as power is gathered in Brussels."
-We are all in this together. this deceit is made plain too, in all the subsequent policies of the Conservatives. As power is shifted as far from the electorate as it can go.
Just as with the many other complaints of the EU the Conservatives wish state education to be a matter for the Minister alone, Health to be in the control of the lowest bidder and soon the next Governor of The Bank of England will be announced, a job in the sole gift of the Chancellor - all efforts to have the selection sanctioned by Parliament rejected.
Me thinks you doth protest too much.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

I believe that many modern commentators hold that the Nobel Peace Prize lost all credibility in 1973 when it was awarded to Henry Kissinger former US secretary of state, national security adviser and architect of the Richard Nixon administration's policies in Vietnam jointly with Vietnamese revolutionary Le Duc Tho.

Sorry but the eu does nothing to further the cause of freedom and democracy. The reverse is true. Nation states are fast losing (actually have already lost) much of their sovereignty all in the cause of what is a utopian ideal invented in the 1920's.

Vince Cable warns Europe could be plunged into war if the Euro collapses,he said the
consequences are `incalculable` and there is no `automatic guarantee ` Europe will not disintegrate
into conflicts.
The European project was constructed to rescue Europe from extreme nationalism and conflict.
He described the Euro as `very valuable`and had to be maintained ....otherwise Britain will suffer.....

Britain is suffering because of that ill-conceived currency. As are members of that currency, Greece, Spain etc. Do supporters of the Euro want unemployment in those countries to reach 50% before they come to their senses?
What we are seeing are the usual idiotic scare stories from those who are desperate to preserve the European 'project'.
The break up of the Euro will spark an economic recovery after initial shocks have passed.
