apparently they had one at the council last evening, i wonder what made it extraordinary?
susan not wearing a hat, john and roger not point scoring off each other, or any number of things.
i think we should be told.

No we didn't agree with each other, this was the suddenly rushed redevelopment at Whitfield, where about 5000 houses will be built,a rapid bus service schools etc etc, good article in the Express Kathy, on page 17.
We also believed it to be rushed and asked for a few months to look at it again,we were out voted 21 to 12 with both Roger W and Clive Meredith voting against the Labour claims of it being pushed through at a weeks notice.
Think they must have been got at,because of the 4 non Labour at the Scruity meeting who all voted for a delay on Monday,2 didnt turn up at the Council meeting while Roger and Clive Meredith seemed to change thier minds from Scruity if the report is right to full Council on Wednesday.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Yes Vic and you scared clive who told me that you were backing him, this is Clive who you are standing against, what made Clive laugh was a Liberal UKIP alliance,as I pointed out to Clive no worse than the Condem one we have now.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

interesting stuff john, i have been reading up on the "local development framework".
a lot of things seem to be pushed through on the nod, will have to digest it all and post in detail later.

good one keith, we all know that party lines are followed whatever the party.
individual consciences are soon forgotten when elections are in the offing.

Viv Revell chaired the meeting as Jim Hood was ill and she couldnt understand why they changed thier minds,so I had to explain they were under orders and Paul W addressed his friends not the Council just in case they weren't sure.

An extraordinary meeting one month before the elections. Has panic broken out in the Council? How come Vic attended, is he already in the Council?
He's making stunning moves each day now. (Well done Vic

)
What decision was actually made, and most of all, has Vic decided that the Whitfield building project will not go ahead. (I hope so!)

On the question of cllrs, no wonder the chair was surprized at the change of heart and party politics being played and john i thought paulw tells forumites that there is no whip, seems that this meeting shows otherwise.
the scrutiny usually operates in a non political way just how it should do, but if this is then to be turned into a political ball game by the cnservatives, then that will undermine the scutiny role.
with regard to house building in reality alexander i think the house building will go ahead, this is because the local tory administration is in favour of it, the present cobbled together govt is also in favour of it.
If it wasn't to happen then paulw wouldn't have made himself and the tory party locally the most unpopular people inwhitfield he would have just sat back,
this of course will make it that much more difficult for our absent poster d hannant to get elected.

I along with the public of Whitfield have always been against this Development.I have said over the last two years or more and at both concil meetings and at public meetings this Development if it should go ahead will kill Whitfield off as a parish,At that meeting even the blues said themselfs that it did not have the backing of the Whitfield Council or the public but still wish to push ahead with it,and the reds were saying ,lets just slow up and look at it again, but that was out voted by 21votes to ten.Must add that the blue cllrs do not live in Whitfield Mr Watkins would not like this on his door step would he>! This is why I wanted to get on the parish council there to add my support, and try and find away of stoping it even at this late time.
And the first step I think is in asking for a local referendum which is law binding if passed, and the Localism Bill would help if it goes ahead and they to not do a U-Turn on that aswell. Even now still alot to play for.

good point about localism vic, though i think you will find it only applies when it suits the authorities.
the whitfield development is a done deal, just a few details to iron out.
without it the area will not get "growth point" status.

Just a point of Clarification Vic was seated in the public gallery .The growth point foer Dover District has been accepted. The Whitfield Action group and Parish Council have been consulted widely and indeed a WAG representative sits on the Local Development Framework Group .
The Supplementary Planning Document which was the item under discussion on Wednesday night which was passed gives greater protection to the village of Whitfield .Without this document the planning guidelines would not be so strict .
I wonder if Vic has read the latest document there were many amendments having listened to the public
Just to point out several Labour members were not present Certain people had previously expressed their views very strongly however were not present at the LDF meeting .
If a councillor has strong views they should be at the important meetings .
Keith the SPD is very important and once it was explained in more detail some members were able to vote in a different manner .
The important issuie of school provision was spelt out more clearly the views of LDF ,Scrutiny and Whitfield Parish Council were listened to ..
These extra homes will cover a period of over 25 years . ..
