Indeed Roger:What secret society?
From today's Telegraph letters page...
"
Canterbury democracy
SIR - Patrick Williams describes a poorly planned traffic trial imposed by Canterbury City Council (Letters, December 29).
In addition, the council has ignored public opinion on the designation of the Kingsmead playing fields for house building and a number of decisions allowing drug and alcohol rehab centres being sited in residential areas.
Perhaps the problem has arisen because the decision-making power is vested in an executive committee of 10 out of a council of 50. They are all from the same party, but only one of the 10 represents a ward within the city; the remainder represent Herne Bay, Whitstable and outlying villages.

I saw you at the Tram-shelter this afternoon Howard; it is indeed, as your photos show, in a very sorry state.
I had an email this afternoon from Property Services at DDC saying that they had already ordered new panes (but I have suggested they make a new visit as some were broken over Christmas and the New Year.
On the redecorating side, it was scheduled for late 2012, but the continuous rain stopped it and so it will be as soon as the weather allows.
I did ask about the CCTV and there were no damage caused whilst it was covering the shelter. I have also asked if they can think of ways to stop the shelter being damaged.

thanks for info roger, i seriously think that replacing the glass and redecorating then leaving it there would be a waste of time and money though.

I agree Howard, more of our council tax money to be wasted.
