Alas, is this not the whole point.
This is not a matter so much of law breaking and punishment, but one of respect for public assets, and, not to belabour the point. The Local Authority is not doing right by the shelter either.
Not to mention the 'B' word.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

"In my day.....The police used to send officers into schools to inform and educate pupils on elements of the law and knock on effects of breaking it."
Exactly Lesley.
I suppose that in this day and age it would have to be a pop star before the little dears would take any notice, they would certainly have little interest in a local councillor that probably most of the teachers have never heard of.

whilst on the council I used to visit all the local schools, and you would be surprized how children are both interested in politics, but also have lots of there own ideas.
Also yes police used to(still do)go into schools
so I do have experience in this field.
I know the names of my cllrs

Only one way move it to the castle, for safe keeping.

It has a specific connection with the town and should stay in its listed position. You've changed your tune Vic-I thought you favoured the Transport Museum as custodian.

i think the transport museum would have got involved before now if they had been interested richard.
it would be my preferred choice, although unsure of the logistics in moving it.

I think they have many artifacts to be going on with which I guess would eclipse an historic item which is not actually under threat-ok occasionally under attack but not to the level where moving it should be considered.

The Transport Museum will take anything e.g. ITV Ch 10 transmitter and Dover 80 (old borough council) switchboard to name but two that are not transport related.
However, the shelter must stay where it is.

the question is how long the council will continue to repair the shelter, although it is their responsibility they will come under pressure to spend such money elsewhere.

All it would take is a couple of arrests to act as a deterent.

At premises not a million miles from me a "lad" was caught on cctv throwing stones at, and smashing, two windows.
He was "let off with a caution".
