I put my hand up to that Roger. After Briony kept saying City Council I phoned her to say that Dover was a town, also how to pronounce Dour. Unfortunately that translated to Town Council.
Reminds me of TVS and Southern who always said KEARN-SEY and PENSTER!

Even a small item on the news will make a few people consider Dover as a place to do business who might otherwise not have done. Every little helps.

i thought pencester was pronounced penster when i first moved here, in most towns and cities they abbreviate such words.
leicester for example.

thought things were going too smoothly, read in the express that the owners of the county hotel will put in an appeal against the expected compulsory purchase order which would entail a 2 year delay.

I think that is a very bad decision by the owners; they'll probably end up with less for their hotel, than otherwise and considering they only made their money to buy it, out of asyulum seekers, seems a bit rich.
I'm sure it can be fast-tracked, so shouldn't take two years. It seems incredible that Dover's future can be held to ranson in this way.

In the paper he said that the uncertainty over DTIZ was harming his business. To that I would say two things: 1. He can't overturn the CPO, only prolong the agony at considerable expense, and 2. Look at the hotel's reviews on
http://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/county-dover.en-gb.html?sid=5dbc5b286436ef8f8b92b01d1126fad0;dcid=1;srfid=f56a8d15abf0faffe1c2b998f137c9c2X19#hash-blockdisplay4 for a clue as to why it's under-performing.
The booking.com reviews are reliable because they only send questionnaires to a random selection of people who have actually stayed there, unlike Tripadvisor, where anyone can log on and make a comment.

One point about the County Hotel, the swimming pool is (or was) used by a lot of locals who prefer it to the sports centre.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Says in the Dover Express that Travelodge have pulled out, but another company has been lined up.
Which chain? IBIS?
Will this mean more delays?

Travel Lodge are in financial difficulties . It has been well reported in business pages for many months.
There are other hotel groups expressing interests to replace the above. The developers Bond City are not reporting major hold ups for the scheme.
