Hi all,
The latest in an occasional series where I politely request information about the lumbering leviathan that is Dover's town centre regeneration programme.
Paul Watkins at this point normally gives us an update. Nice to serve you a coffee the other morning at Platform 1, Paul, and hope you are well.
So over to the floor, re the DTIZZZZZ... It's in the public interest, innit?
CKBAWA.

Hi Andy hope all is well.
I've completely given up on the DTIZ, perhaps somebody might come on and give us an update or progress report but I'd be amazed if any progress will ever be made.
The regeneration of Dover seems completely beyond the capabilities of DDC, in all honesty I think they've given up trying.

They're very positive Howard, as you know I try to keep my ear close to the ground.
I'm sure if/when Paul has anything to say he will. If what I've heard is correct Paul will have every right to stick 2 fingers up to me

I'm curious now, there was a time when various representatives of DDC would be all over a thread like this.
Change of approach I wonder, or maybe the rumours are just rumours.............

No idea Keith, but it hardly befits the Chairman of DDC to be joking about such a serious issue. If politicians want to be taken seriously they should show some respect to the electorate rather making up silly riddles.
People's livelihoods and futures are at stake and the Chairman of the council is talking about Christmas.
I despair at times.

Things would have to be signed and definite before they can be announced officially, we can only hope.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan, I just wondered if Andy Stevens had heard the same gossip as me, if its true its very positive news.
The one response on here from a rep of DDC has confirmed what I've been ranting about for ages.

Without trying to defend anyone, you will know from your own attempts to get a market in Dover there are challenges
just the same as there are for councils.
That said, cllrs sometimes don't help themselves with such comments.
We all hope that the DITZ comes to something very soon
