08:1576023Oh dear Ray and you are my friend .many people in River fought to be independant of Dover way back in the eighties River Parish Council was formed in April 1987 .I have no feelings to be part of Dover ever again .
River was part of a six member Ward Buckland ,St Radigunds and River .
There are too many people who have moved out here because they like the green of the Parks etc but still support Dover when they should be supporting efforts that many of us put into River .
I could mention names but I will refrain .

15:5176096let's start the ball rolling on the subject of how we would like money spent, there isn't a great amount of funding so i would suggest
more public seating in the town(i know that is normally the province of the district council), troughs of plants whereever practicable and more of those excellent family days maybe one in late spring and another in early autumn.
let's hear some other suggestions.

18:4476110Right off we go again.
Just to make this clear to all, I am a member of the East Kent University Foundation Trust and have been for some time.
Last Wednesday I went to a Governor Awareness Session at the William Harvey Hospital.
Next year is the election of new Governors,I am hoping to be a Candidate for the Dover District.
The voting is done this way,if you are a member of the Trust and live in the Dover District you will get a voting pack with the Cadidates name and why they are standing that will be done with up to 150words each then all you do is vote by post, but again you must be a member of the Trust.
It is very easy to to be a member just aske me.
In Kent there are 9000+ members,I do not know how many of them live in the Dover District.
After that meeting I had aword with the Chairman about the Dover Hospital and this is what i will be telling you later on.
There is next month at the Ark A health road show on the 23rd of November at 1400hrs. Thank you Vic Matcham

19:4576120Timely exercise with DDC grant from central gov. cut.
The effects minimum reduction 28% , more likely heading towards 33% upwards .
Figures to be confirmed.
Tourism and toilet reductions are real as recognised by other Town Councils who have already taken over these services.
Haggling over details is not the issue, just whether you want these services ,not how.

19:5576124interestingly enough or not i was about to raise the issue of how we deal with our emissions paul.
if the town council do take over the conveniences i would suggest that they charge for use in order to employ an attendant to oversee things keeping everything ship shape(no crude comments please), had to type that twice to get it right.
most of us would be prepared to pay i dunno 50 pence just to use facilities that are not the haven for druggies and assorted weirdos.

19:5776127If they take them over Howard that's their decision. Local decisions by local people.

20:0076128i think they would be better run by town or parish councils than district paul.
at present most are pretty dire, the discovery centre is the only oasis, and that is covered in signs saying that kent police are working with them on stopping drug users taking them over.
all these little "cottages" need is supervision.

20:0876132Don't disagree Howard.
We just pay a contractor to provide a service.
Most Councils at District level and above just commission the service.
Local is more personal and responsive.

20:1476134I think we should pay to use the conveniences if they are clean and as already said with Attendant there when they are open. And Yes with funding the DTC can take them over.

20:2576137seems that a majority are of the view that paying for the use of conveniences is acceptable.
over to the town council now to do the costings and set a charge.
let us not forget that the first big experience of visitors to our town are the bogs.

21:3776151T o give a slightly different view, I have no idea of the cost to upkeep one public bog, but have to say the present toilets are not much to write home about.
And not sure I would want to pay use them.
The upkeep will be high as there not of a high standard.
So as i'v said in other threads on this issue more details required

the thrust of the thread is about how the town council spend their limited used oncers.
you said it all about how bad they are now, i am trying to make the point that big dave and his cohorts should concentrate on the basics, if necessary raise a levy on keeping things of a certain standard.
