Here's the main girl herself Sheli alias Michelle Shepherd striding alongside one of the floats as the Carnival makes its way down Castle St. Picture by COletteB.
Ah...posted roughly the same time as Howard and you can see ColetteB taking the pictures as in this one above in Howards shot now just on previous page.

It was good to see the Albert taking part - what about other pubs close to or on the route?

Harriet Quimby flew the channel in 1912 - that might make a good topic for a float on the anniversary. A Dastardly-And-Muttley style aeroplane and lady aviators...
I suppose an Olympic theme goes without saying.
Oh, just spotted myself with leaflets in the background of #21 lurking for WHPS behind the troops. Urgh.

Good idea for a float, re Quimby, first woman to fly across Channel, 100 years ago next year,
also the Olympics in 2012.
And in 1912, around the time of the first woman flight across Channel was the Titanic sinking...

We will take part when they allow ale to be dispensed en route.

I hope it is on a Saturday next year so the shop can enter.

Excellent carnival, a strong move to getting back to how they used to be. Big congrats to Sheli and everybody else who worked so hard on making it happen, and also on making it go so smoothly considering the tiny amount of time you had to arrange it.
#30 Sorry Ross, I didn't see you or realise it was you standing next to Barry - I would have said hello if I'd known. I think the Albert definitely won the prize for the loudest float with A Thousand Lights playing, they returned from playing The Cavern just in time

And yes, it definitely would be a good idea to see more pubs taking part.
#36 I'm sure if Nigel can be persuaded...
#37 Why does it have to be held on a Saturday Jan? I would have thought Sunday was a good day to have a carnival in Dover, especially if it's tied in with the Regatta. Unless, if held on a Saturday it filled the void between the end of events on the seafront and would be a perfect introduction leading up to the firework display (an excellent display as has already been said).

Also, sort of in post 20, Keef was hiding in a doorway at the back. And our four children lining the road while pretending to be well behaved.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

The children were well behaved Chris, pity the parents couldn't follow suit
