It was myself that got the gym equipment put up same on the sea front same as I done years ago in River, it is there for the public of all ages to use most councils have them now over the Uk and they
are used a lot by all ages, and why is that wrong ?and better then have young ones going around with nothing to do ,so do not knock it ,and the one on the front was NOT paid for out of the public purse .

Excellent news about the gym equipment. Nice to see some off the 'Olympic legacy' which we were promised for the district when we spent all those hundreds of thousands of pounds welcoming the Olympic torch ashore just over a decade ago .....

Yes very good news and in the right place alot of the public run along there and the new piers, it was put in the wrong place at first, but I do not know if they moved it likeI asked them to it was only last year at poppy day I asked the chairman of the D.H.B. for it to be move from where they had put it,it was placed behind the war memorial on the green and it could not been seen, years ago when I first asked for one to be put on the front ,I wanted right on the front so it could be seen and used. and at that time the D.H.B was waiting for the funds to come from the .U.to help with the build. It was the same at RIVER they had to wait years to get help in the funding of one,Also I was asking all the parish councils I was sitting on +the town council to get them to do the same and glad most done it in the end.

You have not looked hard enough, people use it daily. Evenings especially.

I didn't understand the 'The Port of Dover wants to build out into the sea' bit, given that the article later says 'Mr Bannister told the BBC that plans already existed to reclaim land in the port's western docks, for cargo use. Now, he is looking to speed up the project so the new area can be used to hold passengers when EES starts.'
Anyway, it sounds like Eastern Docks pax could be housed or processed in Western Docks:

Just heard the article on the Today programme. I can only imagine that the plan is to provide pre-clearance prior to departure check-in. But surely that would just shift the delay elsewhere unless they can liberate huge amouns of space at the Western? Thank heaven I'm out of it all.

I assume this is infilling the Tidal Harbour and/or the Granville, but that access would be at ground level via Limekiln Street roundabout. Hm!

Dover parliamentary candidates take note: the Port of Dover needs you! Specifically it needs a government-funded, operationally tenable solution to the EES issue, plus (and I hadn't thought of this) the electricity grid infrastructure by 2030 necessary to deliver 160MW for recharging battery powered vessels. Looking forward to your manifestos...

Do you remember the dairy in Great Mongeham? Well, my first house was two doors along and the lights did indeed dim every time the fridges kicked-in!
