I usually smile to myself when I read Dubris, but not today. The lead item concerns a lady "criminal" serving in a local bakers. Dubris wonders if the employer is aware of the lady's past. Perhaps he is or perhaps he isn't. Perhaps the lady is a reformed character and is being given a chance.
The problem is that every lady working in a local bakers is going to be viewed with suspicion by everyone who has read the column.
I think the DE is plumbing the depths here. Sorry Kathy but it smells a bit.

I never bother with the locals but from what you have said Terry this smacks of unnecessary tabloid journalism.

For some years i have been posting about how the express IS NOT a community paper, and like many others stopped buying it some years ago.
Slowly others are also waking up to it.

the original post highlights where the express have gone wrong on this one.

We made the Express last week with an article on the Shoe boxes for Soldiers campaign. I got dragged to have my photo taken outside of Corrines Hairdressers at Whitfield. I always take a bad photo, I look about 97 rather than 77.

Alec I will be contacting Gloria shortly re the good work
I dont like hint and innuendo , if there is a legitimate public intrest , name the shop and stand by the " story " if there isnt and it is gossip or something that cant be said in the public domain then dont print it at all .
Good people can do do bad things ,Bad people can do good things , people can change, not all do
but to hint and smear without the guts to standby a direct comment is not appropriate in my opinion .
We dont know the back story to many of the people we meet on a regular basis and very often would be shocked if we did .

ok,ok biggoted may be to strong sorry if it ofended.but as i said she/he is working doing good, and maybe the express is wrong to print half a story.
alec, nice one, hope it go from stenth to strenth.keep up the the good work.
Our local rags are not especially ethical or pleasant. I am not sure what process they go through to decide what muck they might print, but it certainly isn't any moral sieve. And when errors and "mis-speaks" are pointed out it is a case of "too late, love, it's already out there". Once something isd printed these days it is stuck in amber for the forseeable. Terry you are of course right, it's a bad show, horrendously unfair on someone who hasn 't asked for the attention and is probably just getting on with their lives, and typical of a morally bankrupt group such as journalists.

rhys and adam are nice people, the jury is still out on the incorrigible kathy though.
There are some exceptions, it should be said. They are few in number.

The item about Neil Wiggins and his bangers & mash must have been written by Simon Finlay, apart from a couple of BBC tv news types he is the only meeja person we have seen all week.

Jenny Morgan was never a Dover Alliance Councillor Keith, she was always an Independant while at the Town Council.
