I was under the impression the parade was going as far as Charlton Green, not cutting back at Ladywell. Worth clarifying so that no-one is waiting in vain?

According to the traffic notice #12 it will go along Bridge Street and past Morrisons.

Sorry! I just pasted Steph's original post, maybe it's been changed. I'd like to know too because I'm hoping to get there too. Steph? x

JUST FOUND THIS ON KENTONLINE>
An illuminated parade is to be held through Dover on Sunday to mark 130 years of carnivals in the town.
It has been organised by Dover Carnival Association, who, despite the short notice, are hoping people will turn out to take part and support it.
Association chairman Louise Scott said they had only just received the confirmation from the district council that the event could go ahead.
Several carnival courts from Kent, London and Essex are expected to take part in the parade which sets off at 6pm from the Russell Street car park.
The procession will make its way along Castle Street to the Market Square, through Cannon Street, Biggin Street and High Street to Bridge Street and then return to the Russell Street car park via Maison Dieu Road.
Mrs Scott said the Air Training Corps Band would be taking part, but they would welcome more bands, as well as floats or people walking in fancy dress. Majorettes and cheerleaders are also expected to join in the parade.
"We hope schools, youth organisations, public houses, traders and other people will come and take part," she said. "We would like decorated cars, bikes and scooters.
"There will be certificates for the winners in each class, and we also have some trophies."
Anyone wishing to take part should call Mrs Scott on 01304 216336.
The parade will form up in the car park at 4pm, and judging will take place at 5pm.
With the procession starting off at 6pm, Mrs Scott says she hopes as many of the entries as possible will be lit up to make it a more spectacular event. But they should not use any naked flames.

Great that there's two parades a year but more notice would be nice...I didn't know of this one until I saw a road sign a week ago like the one Howard has posted. I organised a float for The Louis Armstrong a couple of years ago & it took a lot longer than a week to organise!
It's nice to see all the princesses & all but if thats the only thing in a carnival it tends to get a little repetetive & boring. I'll hope for a bit more notice next year
I know a million ways to always pick the wrong thing to say

Sadly, as the approval for the parade was only forthcoming two weeks ago, organising time was limited. However in that time the majorettes, CJ's cheerleaders and all the visiting courts did a great job. It was nice to see the Western Heights Preservation Society and I loved the little boy dressed as a Knights Templar. Well done to all those concerned.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Yes, thanks Alan, lovely photos

Well done to everyone involved
I was there, down by the Town Hall and it was quite packed around that area with lots of little children cheering and putting their pennies in the collection boxes, it was a great atmosphere
Was nice to have a chat with you Chris and to see the gorgeous Talia all dressed up in her rosebud outfit, Ah!!!!!!!!!!
