The seating numbers at all these conferences, seem to be getting smaller
Is the membership of these parties on the decline?

the short answer is yes, the reds have seen a bit of a rise due to defections from the sandal wearers. party membership has been in decline for many years, i believe that ukip are experiencing a rise at the expense of the blues.

I must admit I have no interest either but we all seem to have a morbid fascination in watching politicians trying to destroy each others' political careers. Like the inhabitants of a bee hive turning on the queen and eating her.

The party in power like the Dover Distict council might be kind of blue but Conservative they are not, they are somthing beween Red, Yellow, but only a small part is true blue, and even the part that is true blue is not the big part in power, just a few siting somwhere in the back seats taking no part in anything.

Boris mania at the Conference with him giving his `professed` loyalty to Cameron.....as one does
prior to kicking them into touch at a later stage...His speech to a packed fringe meeting included
some praise but more criticism. He called for the government to build more houses and to look after
``middle Britain``and not to build a third runway at Heathrow.etc,etc.There was also an accusation
that the government had ignored the ``sqeezed middle``which had been championed by Ed
Milliband.
Cameron has also told his ministers to prioritise the legalisation of gay marriage...this is a
big problem for Cameron because many party activists are against.
More bad news ..Ossie is to give tax breaks to Shale Gas drilling companies.
Conservative Party Chairman Micheal Green etc,etc,etc..................or Grant Shapps had to remove pages
from his `companies `website before he made his speech...........

Grant Shapps is reputed to have over 58,000 followers on Twitter, so his speech will undoubtedly be followed by many more people

Cameron will insist today that he has not abandoned ``Compassionate Conservatism``.........mission impossible.........he will
argue the increasing austerity.....we still have 80 %of the old austerity package to hit us........will be good in the ``long run``
for the poor, weak and vulnerable......pity the rich and wealthy will not be running with us.....
He will seek to reclaim the ``One Nation``banner from Ed Miilliband by saying he has not lurched to the right to appease
his right wingers and of course to keep his job.
His `sink or swim`will go down, with the public, like a lead balloon because he,unbelievably, still ignores we are not all in this
together...........

unfortunatly blair had done his 13 years and like maggie in her day his time was up
and no matter who stood to oppose him the would have got in,
what surprized everyone is the tories couldn't get the majority, and had to rely on the unreliable lib dems.

Things may change Keith; they have come up with some vote caching policies lately squatting laws and things like that,
If they do the EU in out referendum, there support could come back, despite the
Tax's cuts for the rich
And they are turning the lights on tony and Gordon's plans to prevent wage inflation by flooding the labour markets with cheep EU workers
Teresa may, gave a good speech

I can see the spin Howard but many voters cannot
But they do see there wages dropping and competition for the cheaper housing,
And sadly it was the labour party that was responsible, sorry just will not do
And as Teresa may, pointed out, labour the supposed party of the working class man

Everybody needs to have Aspirations.....but the aspirations for millions is not to go to an``Eton``but to keep warm this winter
and have enough money over to put food on the table and pay their bills.
Cameron made a `conference speech`to the already converted audience presiding over a double dip recession, the first hung
parliament since 1970,IMF downgrading UK growth, yet again, policies never implemented, out of touch leader and
cabinet, lurching to the right, unprecedented austerity, unstable mistake, gaffe making Cabinet, party for the rich and nasty party
tag,......
On the `plus` side he has no credible contender with Boris not being in parliament, yet, the army of tory press do not have their
knives completely out yet and the Labour blame propaganda is still clinging on.
Conference speeches are insignificant, his future will be determined by success or failure and not his words.
