1.
In a newsletter, skills minister John Hayes wrote "The Have A Go campaign aims to prevent a new era of PLEBS - People Lacking Everyday Basic Skills." It comes after David Cameron was accused of sexism and Business Minister David Willetts criticised feminism.
Labour said yesterday the Government had "a sick sense of humour". The Department of Business said the word was a mistake
2.
Dr Anjani Kumar a Tory candidate for Bolton put in his election leaflet that one of his main aims was to attract unemployment. Well I suppose thats one election promise he will be able to keep'

What a lot of uncharacteristic drivel from you Marek.
Labour will say anything to try to score a political point, but to accuse the Conservatives of a sick sense of humour is a bit rich.
They (Labour) drove Britain to the point of bankruptcy - isn't that a bit sick ?

There are plenty of equivilent Labour and Libdem stories as well. Unsubstantial drivel best ignored.

Both articles of ''drivel'' were gleaned from todays press. The Tory party have apologised for the gaffs unreservedly, but would not, when pressed, accept responsibility for any drivel spouted by Barryw.

That does not make it anything other than sheer drivel Marek.

Not his glass eye myself Howard - my attacks on him were regarding his ability to do the job, they way he did it and what he did. Yes, his that did include his personality shortcomings because they were relevent.

This thread is just another example of the yah-boo behaviour by politicians local and national. It makes voters angry and I believe it's the main contributor to apathy among voters who do not follow politics on a day to day basis.
All three main parties are guilty of it. Each side accuses the other (without any real evidence) of conspiring to do dreadful things if they get elected while making grand promises about what they will do once in office, only there's no detail.
That's just the candidates. Then we have the cheerleaders. Waldorf & Statler on one side (Keef & Marek), Fozzie Bear on the other (BarryW) do nothing to advance the debate but just reduce it further to a muppet show.
Why can't you all just stop attacking each other and maintain a dignified silence if attacked?
Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Firstly, both articles, were in my opinion humouress and not to be taken seriously. In fact I have a repuatation, rightly or wrongly, on the forum of being somewhat flippant and hopefully light hearted attempting to inject a bit of fun in an otherwise boring and somewhat repetitive topic.
Secondly, you will not find any postings of mine where I have attacked Barry or Roger personally. Their policies yes but not their character.
So unlike some I have never described or referred to fellow forumites as muppets.
Sorry,I had to get that off my chest.

Very endearing characters, muppets. But behind the humour there is always a political point. And I enjoy humour too, but I think its use as a weapon should be sparing. Except when I do it of course.
I frequently use Muppet show comparisons to show how life imitates art.

Your post #9 has put it perfectly I am sick and tired of the new threads I read every morning that seem to be having a go at something or somebody.
You are all wasting you time and energy most people know how they are going to vote, that is if they can be bothered and some of us have already cast our postal vote.

You may be right but I have no axe to grind as I live 650 miles off the English coast and I'm ineligible to cast a vote in elections. I simply try to bring a bit of light relief to the topic and counteract and balance the arguments put forward by the Tory and UKIP posters. We can't let them have it their own way?

Being fairly neutral I would say this forum has more left wing posters than right wing posters, with the extremists about equal on both sides.

you are right about the majority knowing who to vote for each time, but in the grand scheme of things they are not that important.
the protagonists are targeting the minority that have no allegiance but vote for who they think will be the better choice.
these are the people that decide elections in such marginal constituencies as dover.
unfortunately the campaigning overall has been very negative both on here and in the leaflets i have received.

It depends from what view point you come from as to how you view the
left or right tag.
there are without doubt more right wing posters than left leaners. on here

Keith, it's not my conservative party any more than it is yours. Yes I am currently a supporter but all the Tory politicians who know me are aware that my support does not amount to unconditional love. If I vote for someone who subsequently lets us down I will be the first to chuck rotten eggs.
Actually I think the forum is quite balanced politically. As long as the moderators remain neutral that is.
And the vociferous extremists are far more likely to score own goals than points for their own side. Only their own hard line supporters will cheer them on; undecided voters will be put off.
