I bet if this was an area where the council big wigs lived, the rubbish would be searched for the dumpers identity, cameras would be erected with big signs saying fly tippers will be prosecuted and the area cleared very quickly.
As Howard says there is not the will to do anything, it is a case of out of sight out of mind.

Temporary cameras have been put there Jan and for that period, there was no dumping, when it was taken away, back it came - same thing happened along Barton Path, as Ian has said.
A bigger job is to find out who the landlords are who own the houses that are rented along the Clarendons and ask if they know what is happening to their property and go from there.
We have a job on our hands, but worth working on.

jan has articulated the views of the average resident around here, they all say that deal, sandwich and st margarets do not suffer from the same neglect as the the "high ups" live there.
i admire your optimism roger but if the landlords in the town centre are not interested in their properties the ones in the clarendons will be the same.
they know that the council is toothless.

Most of the landlords who own business premises in Dover Town, live outside of Dover and they are just part of their property portfolio, the landlords of most of Dover's rental property are local.
It's not necessarily a case of grumbling at them, but to try and get them on board and help improve all aspects of living here.

The Priory Forum should have the gear to clean the alleys, it purchased them way back, and was kept in Steves garden shed, you will get the alley way cleared as we used to and it will be as bad within a few days

I have no idea if we still do have Sheila, but we are being supplied with the necessary equipment. Hopefully it won't be a case of being a pointless exercise.
I think there's more to this than just cleaning the alleyways, or, if we do have an element of success, there will be more to it.

Hope your right Roger, Good Luck, when it was done last time it looked lovely, but its just the minority that spoil it, they think to themselves that, they shifted our rubbish last time, we'll put some more there.
Are you still on planning, nothing doing on you know what, still waiting

Thanks Sheila - and yes I am and yes I know what you are referring to. I have been advised that it WILL be sorted, just take longer than originally planned. They have some biggies (planning applications) that have recently come in.

Hope we get the pharmacy on Folkestone Road, we had one there until the late 70's, I do not know why Boots is trying to stop it, they have had the monopoly for far to long, when we had Tunnicliffs on Folkestone Road, there was Boots, Timothy Whites, Coop, and one on they corner of Ladywell, and all done very well, so I say let them have a bit of competition

good news for people of a pharmacy does open on the folkestone road, cannot see why boots are unhappy.
the one in pencester road is much closer and both survive and thrive.

I am in the process of filling out an application form for funding to help with the proposed clean-up in the Clarendon alleyways and this is some of the jargon I am having to contend with.
1. Evaluation: To design and undertake appropriate evaluation tools / indicators to track performance of delivered measures both in the short and longer term. Particular reference to local performance of LAA2 targets.
2. Sustaining the difference: Reduce the need for repeat visits by exploring and implement 'target hardening' measures. Behaviour change opportunities through social marketing.
3. Real and visible improvements / differences.
4. Communications: Robust communications plan to involve, inform and feedback to local residents and other stakeholders on action taken and results achieved. In addition, the opportunity is taken to educate and reinforce positive behaviours. Key audiences and minority groups receiving appropriate and considered messages and information.
5. Public confidence: Ensure communications of activity is tailored to positively support public confidence.
SECTION C: DESIRABLE OBJECTIVES - Please identify and provide details for the relevant objectives to your project / work stream (it is recognised that not all will be appropriate.
1. Community involvement - identify opportunities for voluntary roles to support local engagement and ownership of areas.
2. Community Payback: Consider use of teams to reduce labour costs and support 'Justice Seen Justice Done'.
3. Innovation: Consider creative / novel tactics to respond to problems holistically rather than in isolation.
4. Enforcement deterrents: communication to target audience(s) of their responsibilities to comply with legislation and penalties for non-compliance.
5. Ensure synergy and cohesion of activity to dovetail with other partner initiatives to provide seamless service delivery to the public.
Is such terminology really necessary ?
Are they all made up by jobsworths ?
What happened to plain English ?
Mad eh ? - or is it me ?

I guess that such gobbledygook provides jobs for about six people, those who write this stuff and those who try to decipher the answers.
Whatever happened to plain English.

maybe the reason that the council do not clean it themselves is that they do not how to fill in the application form from their own organisation?

Very funny Howard - I like that - even though it's not the case of course.
It does seem designed to confuse the applicant, in this case - me. I filled 90% of it out yesterday and when I went back to complete it, it had disappeared - bugger, have to start all over again.
If you don't mind Howard, I would like to use your photos - I will credit you with providing them.

feel free to use the photos roger, should be evidence enough of a case for a clean up.

why do people(councils)have to make life so difficult for everyone.
Heres a project that is calling for urgent action, instead we are bogged down with meaningless forms, probably read by no one.
Councils often forget these clean ups by VOLUNTEERS are often doing the job that the local councils don't have time to do.
We do continue to bite around the edges getting some joy,
there are so many issues that need multi agency imput that although this project if it takes off will be a good one, it is just tinkering with the edges.

i thought that the "plain english" campaign group had highlighted enough instances of gobbledegook to put a stop to such things.
seems that nothing much has changed.

What would happen if the clearance is done by the volunteers and then just left in a pile on or near the pavement without all the form filling.
