I would probably recognise about half of our Town Councillors in broad daylight but can't imagine why anyone would go looking for them in the dark.

On another forum there is mention of Town Council having a Christmas outing.Perhaps The Mayor is paying for it.I do hope it is idle .gossip.

Depends on the reasoning but if it's taxpayers dosh being used would be hard to justify

Post 42: probably because they look pretty and are easier to source than black ones. Possibly because they reflect the time when the urban folk were adorned in blue woad to greet the latest lot of immigrants.

Perhaps you can investigate Keith. No problem with a few sandwiches and a glass of sherry on Christmas Eve.

Unfortunately Sue, and I don't want to appear snobbish, your Town Councillors would appear to be made up of the sort of person who only recognises food if it is served with gravy.

You can spot them by the big sign above their heads saying 'look at me. I'm really important'.

I agree with Sue Nicholas
As a Town Councillor I'm sure you will want to know what the true facts are and what is being paid for from the public purse.
Can I ask you to clarify for members of this forum whether this rumour is true or scurrilous and if true how much we are donating to the DTC freebie (if in truth there is to be one)
I'm sure this will help stop unnecessary speculation on this forum and others.
As a Councillor this information will be at your finger tips (or at least a phone call away).
Whilst us mere mortals would be forced down the tortuous and often unsuccessful route of an FOI request.

We seem to be wandering off-topic, rather in the same way as the DTIZ thread but regarding a different council. I just hope the strawberries get eaten and taste well with gravy.

"Did anybody notice the " Gringe"? Allegedly that was the Town Clerk dressed up"

Let's put this one to rest. The Town Clerk - Alison Burton was away.
She likes going away.

Regards from beautiful Ypres, ablaze with Christmas lights, buzzing with people and anticipation of the last post tonight . #40. Yes I do know the majority of them and their history, as far as my research has taken me. My chart has grown considerably, thanks to a couple of comments made on here, one of them yours Sue. Not exactly fairytales of serving the community. Hope that answers your question. I saw only Mr Mayor Cllr Rix at the Xmas lights switch on. Did you spot any others?
#39. Most of Dover is Cllr free the majority of the time. We do see them out in force when elections approach. Admittedly I have seen some DDC Cllrs whilst out and about. Cllrs Watkins, Collor ,Glayzer and Ripley. Genuinely intresting people it was a pleasure to meet. Not 1 of them asked me what party I support, unlike 2 from DTC who almost made that their initial part of our conversation. Needless to say that didn't sit favourably as that should be of no importance.

#52. The Gringe was Allison Burton. By the time she spoke with the Mayor Cllr Rix she had removed her hat and mask. No mistaking her. Having looked at the records of last year a few days ago, I noticed we, as taxpayers, had paid for a xmas meal for the Town council employees at £25.00/ pp.
Hope they donate that money to the soup kitchen this year.

#41. I didn't go looking for any Cllrs, just asked if anybody had seen any.( Didn't see you either Howard. Not like you to miss out on an opportunity to take photos. ) Just thought they might have come out to support the event and the Mayor, especially as some were absent from the Remembrance service if my information was right.

Loyalty is not their scene. That goes for a lot of Councils. My younger son is on River Parish Council and I was pleased he went to the Remembrance Service.Mind you he was only six when I first became a Councillor so he has grown up with it.There are divisions on the Town Council..

57. You wouldn't have seen me at the switch on as I wasn't there, much more interested in the day time events.

I have received an email from a DTCcouncillor who informs me there were
councillors there manning stalls. Its a shame that some people are unable to post because of the abuse in some postings.I hope this sets the record straight I would also add many Councillors have families and cannot attend everything.
