we often talk on here about a change in our habits where we become more sophisticated and continental, where furniture is on the pavement and we sip pimms, dine on lobster thermidor to the sounds of the orchestra playing in the background.
some of our residents have decided to kick start things and to be brutally frank i do not think the idea will work long term.

Surely that would have taken a large vehicle to carry that lot, with all of the cctv around the market square they must have seen something????????
Why didn't they chuck it in the river?

Too heavy Ian. Could they be Heart Foundation left overs????????
That beige chair looks very comfortable, there is a blue chair similar to that in my next neighbours front garden.

I caught two scrotes fishing there with hand lines last week. I was thinking of taking a photo for evidence but the look they gave me as I walked past made me think twice. Why does our society tolerate this?

basically because the authorities turn a blind eye to it.
i have seen people fishing off of the bridge in pencester gardens, standing in the middle of a bus queue.
i posted a photo a few weeks of a dead trout left on a path in pencester gardens so it is not even if they cook and eat it.

OMG! How disgraceful, very disheartening for the decent people of Dover
Howard
Many thanks for putting this on the forum.
Last Thursday I was on a Ward walkabout with Nigel and Stewart and this was noticed.
Nigel made contact to DDC to remove.
Having just returned home at about 8.30 this evening I went to the site and surprised that the items are still in situ.
I have therefore contacted the Director of Environmental and Corporate Assets as this is "Fly-tipping" and I hope DDC take any appropriate legal action but more importantly remove the items.
Certainly there are "rumours" that The British Heart Foundation regularly dump their unwanted items at the rear of Dolphin Court. If this is the case I am sure their National HQ would not wish to see this worthwhile organisation brought into disrepute by the actions of some irresponsible individuals.
I hope my contact this evening with the DDC Director results in the items being removed.

Loved the wit of your initial post Howard, but am lost for words seeing that furniture all over the place and the fact it hasn't been removed.
If it is the Heart Foundation shop, I hope the Manager is fined heavily - most of his money is not destined for BHF, just a small percentage.
As fly-tipping is a criminal offence, could not the Police make inquiries with the residents of the flats there and question businesses around there ?

I have been told the Heart Foundation get only 5% but do not know if that is true or not. It would be interesting to know if the furniture have the relevant fire labels that would enable them to be sold, if not.......................

good to see that the councillors i.e. pat, nigel and stewart are onto it, i must admit that when i stumbled across it i assumed that it had only just been dumped.
surely someone in the flats must have heard a van pull up and unload?
i cannot imagine the heart foundation shop being responsible, far too close to home.

Could be that someone wanted to donate them and the HF shop refused them because they did not have the correct labelling.

quite a nice suprise that it had all gone this morning.
many thanks to all involved for such prompt action.
I am surprised that this stuff was left where it was dumped. When we lived at Hillside Road (10 years ago) we knew if we put something out it would be "removed". Only a couple of weeks ago we got rid of our old mattress (we got a memory foam) and duly arranged with DDC for collection which cost me about £25 as I remember. It had only been out 1/2 an hour when someone came and asked for it and took it even tho' it was 20 years old!!
