Courtesy `The Week`....editorial and commentators........
`Osborne is under attack with in the Coalition... Lib/Dem`s want to impose higher taxes on the rich and cut taxes for
the poor...Clegg has demanded a `tycoon tax` and millionaires to pay 20% on their `total` earnings.
``The rich have been portrayed as leeches, not paying their fair share ``
``to tax wealth rather than income is sound``
``Housing benefit cap means families in the southeast have to feed and clothe their children on 62p per week``
``get some sanity into child and housing benefit...relieve taxes at the bottom end and at the top tax wealth rather than
income``
``the environment will be buried and strategy for growth will be limited to revised planning laws``

We will have some intelligent analysis of the budget when we know what it is.

The question is..........will Osborne continue to favour the rich and ignore the general public yet again?
The bench mark is .............50% tax.................the rest will confirm this administrations policies

Anyone watching Harridan Hateman, sorry Harriet Harman on the the daily politics today must admit that she makes George Osbourne look like a financial genius. It was embarrassing to watch. I'm still trying to uncurl my toes.

i heard that harperson made a fool of herself earlier, don't know the details.
anyway it now seems that the yellows are all in favour of lowering the top tax rate, will be interesting to see the public reaction if this appears in the budget.

Keith ideas of right and left are rather old fashioned. It's an old construct going back to the French parliament of old so I'm told. I think many sensible people consider the labelling of a particular set of political beliefs as a barrier to the debate on whichever topic you care to choose.
However when it comes to the new religion/belief system/hysteria du jour namely environmentalism I make the exception.
Now this particular set of beliefs are not right, left or in the middle - just completely cranky.
This is why it's pointless to describe the tories as right wing. They are just, well, rather odd.

I have found a positive slant on these savage cuts that are being imposed on our disabled, sick and elderly.
These cuts are reminding me of the good things that the last Labour Government did for those same people.
Of course some will only see Labour's caring ways as weakness and blame that weakness for today's financial crisis and they are entitled to their opinions.
Mine however, are not opinions, mine is what I had then and now have not got.
Thats not a whinge, its more of a report

well philip i have to say i agree with you totally about this left/right nonsense.
just doesn't apply any more in the modern world where we need our leaders to think on their feet on every issue and make decisions without resorting to their dogmatic beliefs.
i think us and the french are the worst for it in europe whilst others have broad coalitions that mean philosophy is out and practicality takes over.

gary seems to forget the cuts against the elderly started about a year ago with the winter fuel cuts and the changing way of people qualifying for things like pension credit and bus passes.
the disabled are now starting to feel the brunt and will suffer disproportionately.

The concept of left and right is a political red herring,it should be what is just and fair no matter what your 'political' affiliation is.

Totally agree with Phillip and Brian, its not about left and right, it should be about ballance and fairness.
Howard, I have not forgot when the cuts started or who they were directed at, in fact it was them, that I am referring to?
Brian, #14?
