Paula and I went there for a meal last night.
We thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was very attentive, the food was good - I had an excellent duck starter, followed by a curry and then a Bailey's Creme Brulee, the latter was one of the best of its kind that I have had.
The service is not exactly perfect yet, clearly there are a few teething problems but I have no doubt they will iron out the wrinkles soon.
It is a touch on the expensive side, particularly if you have a steak, but the ambience was excellent sat looking out over the harbour helped along by the pianist playing - remember you are paying for that as well.
I would certainly recommend it for a special occasion and we will be back.

Good post BarryW. yes I think we need to give them some time and not condemn them before they are out of the starting blocks. Its great to see a new quality venture here in Dover with people prepared to put money into the town, into the local community. The seafront has been very dark that end without any kind of life whatsoever in the evenings...very gloomy. Now there is an array of multicoloured lights and people enjoying themselves. Great stuff.
Have stuck up some pictures on the frontpage of the family behind the venture, and also some of those reprobate forumites out on the town...shouldnt be allowed!

I found this from the official opening [URL]

BarryW, it sounds lovely. It always feels like a bit of a wasted opportunity not to have more dining overlooking the sea - my idea of a perfect venue.

Well done with the link there Paul. Have just had a look at it, shows the hotel very well and the speech by the Minister, who flags Dover up a bit there. It all looks very elegant.
The event we ourselves covered was the evening gathering. A separate event.
Yes Bern we now have that dining facility back, a dining facility overlooking the sea.
Have just sent the link to my Old Man as a broad hint..........

cannot think of anywhere nicer on a balmy summers evening than sitting outside with a drink watching the action at sea.

Bern
Your hubby just rang me and asked me to post his thanks..he has taken the hint and is down there at present with his 20 yr old buxom blonde non typing secretary...if you can't find him he's probably hiding behind the kiosk......
Now I wouldn't have said that if I were still in Dover (as VM often states)

Popped in to the new look Dover Marina Hotel for a coffee on Wednesday morning. What a terrific job! At last, a hotel Dover can be proud of. I'm sure this will attract a lot of attention from cruise line executives and passengers visiting the port. Very high quality finish to the product. Well done to Leaf Hotels for investing in Dover. I'm sure they'll make a handsome return.
