The press were notified, but as I said previously no one person was invited it was open to all. Public transport may not be good at that time but the reason for having it then was obviously because that's when the battle started & also the 2 min silence was at 7. 28.

Nice Suzie now get off your soap box. Remember public forums are for sharing public information and expressing personal opinions (eg: moaning)

I don think we were moaning just unaware of the service It is a valid point public transport is difficult at that the time of the morning.I personally have got off my fat backside and arranged and attended many things in my life.Only this week two friends and I put on a party for fifteen ladies aged between Eighty eight and ninety three. I felt that peopl of that age group have long memories of our Queen and deserved a party.
By the way I did attend The Armed Forces Day which I have for many years .In Fact Augusta stood near me at one point.
Time to draw a line under this..

Just cannot believe what Sue Nicholas has just commented, of course the the 80/90 years old deserved a Party, to celebrate the Queens 90 birthday! But, on the other hand I felt DTC could also have celebrated too by flying the Union Flag on that day, on ALL flagpoles DTC could muster. Would of been nice for ALL the people, it is not just for 80/90 year olds, the Queen reigns over young & old, just saying.

May I make it quite clear Ihave never been a Town Councillor what they do or may not do is nothing to do with me.I served on Dover District Council for twenty seven years and I always made sure flags were flown on the right occasions.I only made the comment re the party to say I don't sit on myback side.It is good to see other people arrange thing.I think at my tender age I can take a well earnt rest.Dont make comments because you don't know me from Adam.
Yes yesterday was a time for reflection. My great Uncles served in the first world. war.
Folkestone tend to arrange events as the soldiers left from there. You will find Dover will do more to commerate the return of the troops through Dover.

I see that some one has got there smalls in a twist, and I suggest that they sort it sooner rather than later.lf mrs pearson wanted more people to attend her advents I would sugest that she makes them more public rather than her own network of friends [angry grannies club ].
as for transport I could have got down there with time to spare for coffee,if I had known it was o.
rant over

We are being being besieged by fake names taking a pop at people which never used to be allowed. Mind you I suppose the poisoning bit is real.

I must say I wish we could go back to only using real names so much more friendly. I am not sure why there has been so much aggression from those that were there.

Brian I think you missed the point Augusta,s event was not meant to be for hundreds of people the reason for that is because large "do,s" need public liability insurance. She told people on FB that the event was happening but did not actually invite anyone. Anyone was free to join us. Of course her friends knew !!! It was on FB for goodness sake. Not one of us complained about people not turning up - it was all of you on here moaning ( as usual ) that you weren't invited & that it wasn't advertised. It seems that as soon as Augusta arranges something most of you can't wait to snipe, complain & make fun Howard Mcsweeney in particular. What is so wrong in what she does ? Why do you snipe at one of the most patriotic people I've ever known ? Why do you constantly try to belittle her with stupid remarks on ridiculous little sites ( Augusta Pearson Appreciation Society ) ? You are supposed to be adults act like them. Shame on you trying to undermine someone who wants desperately to make Dover a better place. It's a pity some of you don't do something instead of sitting there moaning. Before you say it Howard Mcsweeney these are my words, my thoughts my voice.

Excellent post Lynda Mackintosh and I feel certain they are your own words even though some would say they were dictated to you, perish the thought.

Yes Howard Mcsweeny perish the thought. You obviously know absolutely nothing about me or you wouldn't even suggest such a thing.
