I believe the silence towards the residents of Guston is appalling .I have sent messages to DDC but as yet silence.I donot agree with our MPs stance on this .Its horrific what is being done .I thought we were in the garden of England .I have said before the money for Dover town centre it is nothing more than lip service .When the lorries take a short cut to the docks then people will complain. It is on the wrong side of Dover .Dover Town is in a Valley concreting endless on fields will environmentally effective Dover.
Where were the meetings held to discuss this ?.I attended a meeting of Guston Parish Councill, some years ago one of many parishes I visited .
This is where you get to hear the voices from the grass routes. The MP should have held a meeting with Guston residents .

I believe it's what the military call 'probing fire'; if a geyser comes up, it's a fair chance that there was indeed a water main underneath.

Mrs Elphicke has always replied when I've written to her, but she only ever supports the Party, and is blind to any contradictory evidence. She won't step out of line for this.
BUT it's necessary for anyone who opposes the development to let her know this, even if you think it's a done deal. At least she gets to find out just how many of her constituents are contra, and she is supposed to be representing us NOT the government. Besides, it'll make work for her and perhaps (more importantly) give her a sense that her seat isn't the walkover she thinks it is.
Not writing is simple bone-idleness, given how easy it is nowadays.

The last email I sent to our MP I pointed out to her "You represent the people first, then party and any political ambitions second".
I also mentioned when it all goes wrong, people remember next time they are at the ballot box.
I probably won't be on her Christmas card list

Yeah. Won't be long before the HGVs are down them too.

Good luck fighting this.. We at Aycliffe have had to put up lorries queued up on the A20 due to Dover TAP for years with the horns going off etc. They are queued a road width away from peoples houses. I have written countless e-mails about moving Dover TAP back along the A20 away from a residential area.. but the people who it does not affect do not care and come up with excuses..

Local Plans are not my forte but isn't there a snag with objecting to the HMRC facility, either outright or to ensure it remains temporary, inasmuch as the site is part of the White Cliffs Business Park phase III? C.f.
https://www.dover.gov.uk/Planning/Planning-Policy-and-Regeneration/PDF/Land-Allocations-Local-Plan.pdf.
Assuming that's right, then the two bits I found concerning it are 3.46 and 3.47 (Policy LA2) which provide/stipulate protection for the North Downs Way and 25m of bunding and dense planting to shield houses on Dover Road.
Apologies if that's either wrong or well-known already.

I've also provided feedback before on that to no avail, it's not unreasonable to move it back up the hill, I bet if the people behind this had all these things on their doorstep, it would get changed!
The are plenty of large fields around St Margarets to park lorries.....umm

As my family own shops and land and houses at the bay I cannot agree with that sir, but it will be a wast of time building on any land sites round Dover or East Kent as I said before we have to take the lorrys off the roads and use trains and containers that will also make the air better all that will happen the lorry parks will fill up and still have 100s of lorrys parked on the M20 AND M2.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think there should be lorry parks within 50 miles of Dover as the town and surrounding areas will have enough to put up with. The point I'm trying to make is that our MP lives (although I believe it is up for sale according to the media) in St Margarets and I'm sure her "support" would be different if it was in her area?

Well I'm 10k into one of my walks at the moment, and walked up the Roman Road at the start and along this route, and whatever survey work they are doing, there are red and yellow flags all over the fields right up to Dover Road, so if you are right, that's an expensive herring already!

The lorry park won't get much use if the A2 is blocked like it is today as the authorities have failed to keep it clear.

I'll post here a letter that our MP has sent to residents and you'll note that apparently the DfT have stated it isn't a lorry park! So 1200 lorries moving through the site will just be another slow moving queue!

In other words - 'I really do care, honest. But it's going to happen whether you like it or not. Oh and here's a few things we might do to help mitigate some of the effects'
Just another minor sacrifice on the altar of Brexit.

Re post 95: DfT 'comprehensive strategic plans for the White Cliffs site' doesn't sound terribly much like a customs facility due to end in 2025; neither, for that matter, does Mrs Elphicke's growth and development. (Oh, and I hadn't realised that July 2021 had already come and gone!)
Re post 97: the length of time lorries spend there depends on whether this is going to be a customs clearance site (longer dwelltimes but maybe with penal parking charges) or, as it sounds more like, an Office of Transit*/Border Inspection Post (shorter dwelltimes - apart from any unloading of POAO - and, I assume, free). Having said that, you do get into processing capacity** and the tricky subject of drivers' hours...
*Strictly, an Office of Transit is only for traffic inbound to the UK, which would tend to limit numbers.
** Especially if any clandestines pop out and occupy UKBF!
Re post 99: she is right though, the site has been part of WCBP for some time.
