I'm not sure that's right, though I stand to be corrected. Certainly the use of all
clearance sites by ro-ro traffic has been a commercial decision to date, both pre- and post-1.1.1993.

Time to apply for planning permission in Guston for a bordello selling Yorkies methinks.

How odd, just not what I was expecting. Looks more like a combined Office of Departure (outbound) and Transit (inbound) than it does a clearance site. Seemingly only 349 spaces and with an in-line payment facility that I think is asking for trouble; so, yes, maybe more gridlock than Mrs Elphicke's logistics hub (or whatever). Does 'T' mean somewhere to powder your nose, do you think?
Just compared the above with Guston PC's site drawing; now I'm really confused, because it seems to have grown rather!

The site plan on GPC website was provided by DfT following their initial letter. So far no further details have been forthcoming, however the site is much larger than the one on City Court plans from 2018.

Arthur wrote:Residents in St Martin’s Road Guston received a letter from the Department of Transport on October 27 informing them that a site near them was being considered for an Inland Border Freight facility under an SDO (Special Development Order) which can speed up the process. It took further correspondence with the DfT to obtain a site map. The facility has the capacity for 1200 vehicles. This is not an unused industrial site - it is currently used as farm land. Residents and the Parish Council have been seeking information but requests have largely been ignored. Despite repeated emails from residents out MP has so far not responded to their legitimate enquiries. This is the latest in a series of proposals that this small community has fought, remember the proposal to build a prison on the Burgoyne Heights site? Exploratory bore hole drilling in the centre of the village? Numerous solar parks (Guston now has one small site). DDC should not underestimate the strength of feeling concerning this latest plan. The residents of Guston will fight this vigorously . If allowed to proceed Dover will be gridlocked. Getting through the Jubilee Way roundabout will be a nightmare. If you wish to view a site map please look on Guston Parish Council website.
I'm sorry to say so but I'm not optimistic for your success. Natalie will support the government without any misgivings whatsoever, regardless of of any practical or ethical considerations.
And, if it's in the furtherance of Brexit, nothing will be allowed to stand in its way.

Hence her "That’s why I welcome the new jobs, transport and infrastructure investment a Border Control Point in Whitfield could bring" quote. Nothing specifically about a bordello though.

Sadly you may be right, I have no faith that the residents will get any support from Mrs Elphicke. I’m totally disillusioned with the supposedly democratic process. Nevertheless Guston will put every ounce of strength they have in trying to defeat this proposal. We would like Dover residents to support Guston by contacting Mrs Elphicke and DDC in voicing their opposition.

How very convenient City Court development site keeps crashing .I think our MP wants to reflect on our previous MP Charlie Elphicke’s Efforts to get the A2 dualed Our MP needs to realise some local residents have to travel over an hour every day to work .Thanks to the policy of the wonderful Master Plan Engineering is not a priority .Do they not realise we need to export goods .There are only so many cups of coffee or beef burgers you need .The people who have the skills provide the jobs .Our young people leave Dover and live else where .

The legislation specifies that the facilities will cease operation prior to 31 December 2025.

One to watch is the development of the old Dover swimming pool site. People say it involves a 'land swap' where DDC get some cheap land miles from anywhere to build the new Swimming Pool and Citycourt get a prime site next to a road used by millions on their way to Eastern Docks (Fuel? Tesco Extra? Electric charging points? Fast food?) Remember where you read it first!

Odd. The previous MP was up for it.

I feel sorry for those living in Guston with this threat the least Mrs Elphicke should do is keep them informed.
Our present MP does not seem to have the ability to think for herself, I doubt she will ever seriously question any subject Westminster chooses to implement in the future.

Those rumours have been going around for quite a while.
Last few times I've been by it seems people have moved judging by the tents there.

Did I imagine but on ITV South East last night they showed the construction work of the freight clearance facility at Guston .What use is it protesting if construction work has commenced .The money offered to DDC to spruce the town up is nothing but a sop Our current MP is not much help either as she is not protesting .Surely not another MP with a desire to climb dizzy heights when the voice of the people represented is not listened to .My Son has just called me and he has received a reply from the MP and the fact that she was able to get money for the Dover Town was her main concern .So we will end up with concreted fields around .Dover .Houses on every piece of land available .Garden of England ?? I once wrote an essay stating if Kent is the garden of England than Dover is the compost heap at the end of the garden .

Everyone who contacted Mrs Elphicke received the same generic letter in response to their concerns. As yet no further details of the consultation process have been released. Mrs Elphicke needs to visit St Martin’s Road in Guston to consider the impact on these residents and answer their questions in person

To be honest now the St Margarets house is on the market I don't think Natalie really cares what happens in this area, I just hope she will not stand as a candidate at the next General Election.
