I attended the Rememberence service before going to collect Jean (she's now home in bed).
It was a lovely service and beautiful weather - probably the best we've ever had.
David Ridley spoke about the weather and how awful it was last year, when everyone (including David of course) was soaked like drowned rats.
There were three people standing quite close to me who collapsed, two I believe were elderly gentlemen and I'm sure at least one if not both were taken away by St. John's ambulance. Hope they are all O.K.
Roger
Im glad Jean is back and settled at home Roger , it was a very long service today wasnt it , the weather was much better though , like you I do hope the people who became unwell are ok

actually it was one elederly chap that went off in the ambulance, i'm pretty sure that the otrher two responded well to first aid.
the st john's people were very calm and collected about the incidents, jack hewitt would have been pleased with them.

that is the correct spelling of his name, maybe they were his fathers?
The first and last are The 1939-1945 star and theFrance and Germany star . the others appear to be the defence medal , The 1939/1945 war medal , The dark green ribbon is eluding me at the moment so Im just off to check
It loks like it might be the Efficencey Medal , but Im happy to be corrected , I imagine Nigel knows what they are ,

Medals worn on the persons right side are on behalf of someone else (so presumably Nigel's father)
Been nice knowing you :)

If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

A truly magnificent day to behold.
A complete reversal of last year, the sunshine was strong and warm, with my eyes closed facing the sun for most of the ceremony I really could have fallen asleep and it took hold of a few people young and old.
Pleased to say they all recovered.
Still trying to get a grip on the new camera but am getting there.

surprised that nobody has mentioned the brass band that played today, not normally my favourite but they were superb.
made the service go very smoothly.
