kieth,i am aware of the problems up there,so need to remind me.
the channel tunnel workers [lots where irish] plus northeners where billited up there along with the fathingloe village.most where decent people and shed loads of dosh around town.
all so baccy runners turnded up after they left and the area down to street crime level.
and now imagrints and low lifes live where there where decent hard working people used to live.

the milling throng arrived in market square for the fun
a game similar to "boules" was being played.
there was a game where people entered the box under the big screen and their score came on.

i couldn't see the point of railing off the fountain for the event, if anyone fell in there were loads of people there to pull him/her out.
when they took the railings down at 2 p.m. a party of french schoolchildren sat all around the edge to have their packed lunch.

Wonderful use of the Cliffs :-) looks pretty.
Dover Leisure Centre is hosting The Paralympic Road Show on 18th August 2012, where people will have the chance to try out loads of Paralympic sports. More details will be announced closer to the time.

Howard, at least they used low fencing not high builder's security fencing and left the fountain on, someone on high might be taking note of the forum!

Yes Kyle, we are absolutely fascinated by our lovely Fountain for all the positive reasons already discussed on here. Why did they find it necessary to fence it off at all today, beggars belief

The fountain was cordoned off for the 100day countdown to the Paralympic games for safety reasons is pretty much the answer.

wonder why the fountain was turned off again today, bit of movement in the planter department, the soil was being turned over earlier as was the gateway flats frontage.

I'd like to think the fountain wasn't cordoned off for safety reasons, there's absolutely no logic in that, I'd like to think they just needed somewhere to hang their banner and bunting.
