The repairs to roads wasU better ,the farmers say theyneed the help the EU gave out,the fishman are saying they are no better off being out then they were when we was in the EU.Yes it is true to say our own government is running the UK now but are they doing it right and would another party put things better,I am coming round to think they would not we do not have the leaders or MPS we had years ago ,I think we need to vote again on going back in ,I do not know what would happen nor do I know if I am right.

I HAVE the feeling that we should hold a vote on going back in the EU before the next general election.,and if the blues said yes to this I think it is the only way they stand a chance of holding on to power in UK. But I could be very wrong just my way of thinking at this time.

The biggest problem with Brexit was that we only had a vote of in or out. Little say on what the future would be or what sort of deal we would get, though many people gave their opinion on what would happen
Brexit still isn't done, there are still arguments over areas such as Northern Ireland
But there are hopeful signs that some politicians are willing to work together in the interests of The UK
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/feb/11/revealed-secret-cross-party-summit-held-to-confront-failings-of-brexit
I voted remain, I was disappointed that UK citizens have lost freedom of movement, but I used my own right 2 days before the initial Brexit day back in March 2019
I don't believe rejoining is a realistic option, but I hope that the UK and EU can have a closer relationship than at present, and I hope Dover doesn't grind to a standstill when the ETIAS scheme kicks in

Unfortunately I don't think that is something that Dover, or The UK, can control
But we hope for the best

You all know my view on this - I think we should have stayed within the EU, or at the very very least the Customs Union.
What I have consistently said from the start is that eventually the evidence will start speaking for itself, and that's what's happening now. Interesting that no political party is yet campaigning to rejoin the EU, I wonder how long that will last...

To the administrator- could we please make the title of this thread grammatically correct? It should read “were we” not “was we”.
As someone has previously pointed out, this forum is read by many, it should be correct. Thank you.

Brexit has been an absolute disaster but there is no going back. The French and German economies have already benefitted from the UK leaving and are now seen as superior allies by the USA, they would veto any attempt for us to rejoin.

If Brexit has been, shall we say, less good so far than was promised/hoped for and given that it came about after a referendum was held to elicit the views of (broadly) the UK electorate, then who do we think should be allowed to vote next time around?
(Not my real name.)

'The war' was going on in 2016, VM; perhaps you just didn't notice. What bigger mess could the UK as part of the EU have made than the one they have already made 'apart'?
As for earthquakes, do you think the UK's rejoining the EU would result in more or fewer sanctions on Syria than the EU has already imposed?

First I would just like to thank you all for gaving out your own views about it ,as you know the war is changing by the day, and I am thinking if we was still in the Eu it would be more of a help .And I think because of the lack of good leadship from our own MPS that is all partys not picking any one out,I am coming round to think that going back into the EU would be of a help not only us but the EU to. but I might be very wrong .thank you, this is nothing to do with any sanction which is in place just saving the life of the public.

@15 Button
Good point
It demonstrates the flawed process of the referendum
We had a straight choice, in or out, and we all had our valid opinions either way
If the question had been "shall we leave the EU, watch Cameron resign, allow 150,000 conservative party members to elect Theresa May as PM, elect a hung parliament, watch the Tories get rid of May and allow 150,000 conservative members to elect Boris Johnson as PM, elect a large conservative majority, watch as Boris Johnson declares Brexit as "done", then still be trying to pick the bones out of it years later" I wonder what the result would have been?
In my opinion, following a leave vote, there should have been a UK-EU relationship negotiated, then put back to the British public
Perhaps we could still have a second referendum once a "final deal" is agreed, but personally I think it's too late now

I'm pretty sure that the majority of the German people did regret to see Britain leaving
the EU - I rather believe most Germans think that the UK is an integral part of Europe,
not just on cultural terms but also as economy and politics are concerned.
As a true friend of the UK I wish one day Britain will rejoin the EU.
