Seems that Michael Gove is out the running leaving Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom left. Most of the MP's are Remain supporters and are acutely aware that grassroots members are firmly in favour of leaving the EU. There are rumblings that pressure will be put on Mrs Leadsom to leave the fray so that there can be a coronation for Mrs May.

Andrea Leadsom may have been a relative unknown before the Referendum debates but she is an out and out 'Brexiteer' with business acumen and a fresh viewpoint that might appeal to those who do not want the continuity of the old order that offers more of the same and - ignoring the wishes of the people.
This is May's position and a committed 'Remainer' whatever and however she might present it in the forthcoming contest.
You pays your money and takes your chances. Who can say what is for the better!
But it might be worth noting that those who would choose the next leader of the Conservative Party, and thus our Prime Minister, that coming as an outsider and as a political 'Nobody' might just resonate with them when they consider the silver tongued 'Somebodies' that, historically, have been elected to positions of power and made an utter mess of it.
Names please? (clue - it's not the province of any particular political party.)

Sadly it looks pretty certain that Mrs May who is a shrewd political operator will get the job and no doubt do the best she can to delay invoking Article 50. Her term as Home Secretary has been appalling in my view what with telling the Police that paperwork would be reduced in lieu of there being less officers and her waffle about controlling immigration.

I think Gove entered to kill of Boris to stop him back peddling on the referendum .
In the long run fox would have been the best all-rounder delivering an EU out deal and hedging of a Scottish brake up.
And fox being a doctor possibly defending the N H S in a future American uk free trade deal.

According to reports Mrs Leadsom gave a "car crash" presentation to the MP's yesterday rambling on about nothing and many were playing with their phones or chatting long before she finished. Liam Fox gave the impression he was auditioning to be Foreign Secretary.

Her credentials of being a former top banker in the city are coming under scrutiny too.

Has there been any sign of who our MP will vote for?

He doesn't know who to ask permission from on what to say or do! If he does I'm sure he'll change his mind!

Is he a "rising star"? Will he be a possible future leader?

It seems fairly certain that the run off will be between Mrs May and Mrs Leadsom with the former hot favourite with the bookies. I have little time for the Home Secretary who has never held another role in Government other than a short spell as Minister for women and equalities. Her opponent was pro EU until 3 years ago and her excuse for changing horses was events in the EU but I don't remember any great changes over many years. We then have the issue of her tax record which she refuses to reveal unless she reaches the last two and it is put to a vote of party members. Many people think that she could win in that situation but if it transpires that she has avoided tax on a grand scale the members will turn against her.

I think many Tory members would admire her more if she is exposed as a tax avoider! Probably a vote winner in their world.

Does now seem certain that the two "ladies" will go through to the knockout stage.

I'm impressed on how quickly you picked this one up Blossom! But will it be compulsory for all MP's to have HRTand how will they stop the men escaping from the cabinet?
Taking this a stage further, those caught 'pirating' expenses could be made to wear the patch over one eye.
