Cynics put in their place by Professor Newsam and Stacey has cemented her place as a future MP for Dover and Deal(except for Bob of course).
Hi Howard,
Glad to see the forum is keeping up its high level of intellectual discourse re
the elections.
I studied geology during part of my degree course and have been following
developments of the Jurassic period over the years, especially now my daughter
lives near the Jurassic coast so field trips are easy. Attached is a pic of one
of the few dinosaur cars excavated by geologists from that period, and I think
everyone knows they were powered by feet not fuel so were very eco-friendly.
This is obviously one for one of the small dinosaurs, a T. Rex would have had
one the size of a TIR.

I presume the vehicle above is the sort of thing the Conservatives are proposing under any diesel scrappage scheme? But with rising sea levels?

I think it's a ploy by that nice Mr Elphicke to appeal to the floating voters of Deal and keep Mondeo Man on-side.

I heard this morning that if the Council election results are transferred across to the General Election the Tories would have about 120 more seats than Labour with an overall majority of about 50.

But they wont be howard
without doubt people vote differently in general elections to that of a local election
Although this time I think many came out to give a shake up

Not this time Keith the swing to the Tories was uniform across the country. Our KCC results show that plus how did two Tories go so close in our two DDC by-elections, one didn't even canvass and the other has not been seen much in the last five years.

Labour still have an ace up their sleeve for the General Election.

I'm betting on the Conservatives having more than 400 seats which will give them a 150+ majority. Unless the Monster Raving Looney's are putting someone up in Dover, I'll be spoiling my ballot paper like I did earlier this week. None of the mainstream parties represent my views, morals or beliefs anymore.

I spoiled my ballot paper at the last European Parliament Election due to all the parties telling me who not to vote for, none had anything positive to say about themselves. We seemed to have reached a crisis in our democracy due to many people starting to question why they have always voted a certain way, unfortunately no party seems able to answer the question.

If none of the parties represent your views then do as Macron did in France, form your own party...
Declining to exercise your franchise only maintains the present bunch of idiots, shysters and misfits in their cosy delusion that the people want them.
People need to stop being desperately British about politics and get themselves organised and become active in pushing for policies that work for them and represent their views whether at local, regional or national level.

on a slightly different note I always find it amazing that people stick to the same rosette at every level of government - at parish/town and district, party politics should be irrelevant; one should vote for the person that most closely represents your aspirations and whose track record does likewise. Only above these levels does party politics become relevant and then one ought to think of not only the individuals track record and promises but also those of their party when assessing how to vote.

I suspect the Tories will get a decent majority in the house however given the spread of the vote last week it does not need to be thus.
Tories & UKIP captured roughly 42% of the vote & Lab/Lib Dem/Greens about 45% with the balance going to regional parties etc.
Clearly if the Lib Dems & Labour could reconcile their differences and agree some sort of tactical voting/electoral pact they could prevent the Tories from romping away
Of course they won't do that and the country will be poorer for it as there wil be no effective opposition to the Tories other than the wet wing of the Conservative Party

I see that Justin Welby and the excellent John Sentamu have now weighed in on the election. Very little in there I disagree with.
Perhaps God, as well as being an Englishman, is also a conservative?
