No.No.No. Gordon is merely one of the four local candidates who have all applied on-line and are waiting by their 'phones for the call from t'committee (though I've been separately told that the NEC are ploughing through the vaguely winnable seats first so won't be getting round to Dover until next Wednesday).
Gordon certainly thinks he is the front runner, but after last time, when having spent months ingratiating himself with every Labour Group, coffee morning, surgery or meeting in the area, he had the rug pulled from under him by the Hawkins Family coup at the last minute, with that e-mail from Labour HQ imposing an all female line up, he is not counting his chickens in spite of the fact that Claire has said she won't stand again having suffered enough humiliation for one lifetime.
People say Gordon wants the chance so much he is willing, in extremis, to forget his scruples and pay for private surgery this time if it helps.
