I think DTC will continue in exactly the same way it always has done since its formation by doing very little to actually benefit the town or the population it is supposed to serve.

As I said the town council is only a parish council with no power over anything so we will see Dover as it is run now by the blues ,and lets face it out of the two they are the best one .

I must be dreaming .Keith stated in his post DTC is now under a Labour Administration. They have just elected a Labour Mayor.I assume all the committees will be chaired by Labour .The last post does not make sense.

Chair posts? I think you are confused, it's chair legs and bed posts. Easy mistake.

Nathaniel Richards has announced that he will not be standing again next May in the District Council elections, he is of the opinion that officers run the show regardless of what Councillors may want.

As an aside, sorry Chris, I see Mr Richards is now saying his business will be only online. He seems to change his business plan and/or his shop address every few months no wonder he is always touting for customers.

Rumours are that Peter Wallace will not be standing again next May in Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory.
Always the most closely fought ward and in 2015 he was top with the vote against the other 8 candidates.

Depending upon how all the boundary changes end up priory wont be priory any more,
and E Vale/Maxton vast changes.
I understand Cllr Richards comments on not standing did not speak highly of local labour?

Of course since that election UKIP collapsed, the one sitting UKIP guy (A Richardson) has rightly resigned, so those votes(which were very close to labours) will have to go somewhere.
I think I look at the cawca committee they invited all candidates at that time into the centre
1 Cllr had to be reminded to attend on the night !!(lab)
R Walkden didn't attend and still has that open invitation to do so,
G Cowan gave a clear vision whether we shared that view at least he had one.
J Heron had some views
I recall Peter was questioned on the play area, and we managed to reach agreement (as he was pushing for the site at the top of area closer to military rd)
Together we would go for the lower swings area.
I'v had no involvement in this but my understanding is the monies that were promised have been returned to Tesco's. A lost opportunity.
The committee also felt not many of the cllrs had a vision for the ward which is a worry.
1 Cllr didn't know where clarendon place was !!
But further to all of this I met with the member from st margarets(now leader of council) and officers over the play area, many promises made, but since forgotten and they havn't been seen since.
So looks like priory lost out again.
When it comes to next election I believe local people bel;ieve far more that they can make a difference in a marginal ward like priory around the community quite a few people are now saying they will only vote for candidates that have an involvement in community.
and live or work in ward.
Of course I stood for DTC on that very ticket

I've heard Sharon Hodgson MP is standing down at the next election and Peter is on the short list of candidates to replace. The committee were impressed with his local knowledge and accent which they thought would bring working class Brexiteers back to the Labour fold.

I feel people are becoming more aware these days in some wards they can make a difference and we saw in st rads ward labours safest seat they lost in twice in recent years and in buckland they came close to losing a seat
and there can be blips like in castle ward the tories got to complacent and lost the seat in years gone by.
There are only a few safe seats these days, most have become a lot more marginal, which isgood for democracy
At the local elections when candidates knock on your door spend a few minutes with them
ask questions such as;
what interest do you have in ward?
Are you at present involved in any projects in ward?
do you live or work in ward?
will we see you again before your 4 year term is up?
will you put people before party?
plus I'm sure you can think of lots more,,,,
