Cameron`s bonus tough talk is `Hot Air`
Cameron was challenged last night to match his words with action as he repeated his threat to block the latest £500 million bonus round at the largely state-owned RBS.
He said ``The British Government is a major shareholder in RBS......We can stop the £ 500 million bonuses.......Absolutely``
Health warning;Flashman has promised this action before............many times with little result.
Once again he grabs the `Headline`...................we are watching!

Example;John Varley former boss of Barclay Bank ( surprise,surprise ) `earned`...£ 4,365,636.........when Joe Public earned £ 25,900.
The increase for executives pay being...........4,900 per cent.since 1980!!!!

I'm a Conservative and proud of it; I also believe in a capitalist society, but and I do believe it is a big but, I do think there is a case for either reducing these top executives pay, or increasing the salaries of the lower end and lower paid staff.
Many top executives earn their good salaries, but in the vast majority of cases, it is simply too much.
We should have capitalism without greed.
I also do not believe in the politics of envy.
These are private companies not public ones, so if the company is making so much profit, part of that (profit) should go towards increasing the staff's salary.
I certainly don't believe in bringing every down to the lowest level, nor do I believe in redistribution of wealth, but this salary gap is getting wider and wider and is in danger of creating serious problems for companies and society.
Right-wing I am, greedy I am not.

roger;
you look to an ideal world, bud sadly it is nothing like that.
we are all happy to see companies make profit, where it goes wrong is the chief execiutives pay themselves millions a year whilst the workforce are paid a pittance.
yesterday on the news a top pay supporter was warning we are heading once again to the victorian type days where you begged to have a job, standing at the employers gates.
there heading towards an the and us again

I made a spread-sheet projection and found that, over the next 30 years, the fat cats' salaries would increase by 4000%.
As feed for the projection I used the trend of the past 30 years.

Keith, have you worked out how much money will be saved on benefits once British people are allowed to work again in factories? JSA and housing benefit account for tens of billions of pounds a year!
So yes, it is a good investment, and the fact that the LibDems are also all for it, makes it all the more likely that it will go ahead. About time too.

New Laws for executive salaries/bonuses.
All parties are now trying to address this issue.
Cameron wants to leave it to the shareholders ?.....they have tried for years to stem the flow in order to increase their
dividends.......this would be a self regulating excercise.....they never work..........there must be a much more stringent
solution.

Fully agree, Reg. With these shareholding companies, and the way the boardrooms work, one doesn't know what comes down by way of backhanders to influence a decision.
There must be a more stringent solution, with strict State surveillance over executive pay.
