They are all in it together.............
Outgoing Bank of England Governor Sir Mervyn King accuses George Osborne of lobbying on
behalf of banks to weaken regulation
George Osborne was challenged over whether he gave in to intense lobbying by bankers to force
regulators to water down demands for banks to raise more capital to protect themselves against
future shocks.
Sir Mervyn King, the departing Governor of the Bank of England, claimed that there were
"certainly calls made to Number 11 [Downing Street] and even in some cases Number 10" to put
pressure on the Prudential Regulation Authority [PRA]."
He told the Commons Treasury Select Committee that it was "very often it was the first response"
of banks to call politicians after confidential discussions with regulators. He praised the PRA for
maintaining its independence, suggesting the authority had not bowed to any pressure from
Mr Osborne or David Cameron, but said such lobbying must stop

Queen in line for a £38m windfall
The Queen will receive about £5 million more than she spends on official duties
The Queen is to receive a multimillion-pound windfall for the second year running after the
Crown Estate posted record-breaking profits.
George Osborne's new system for financing the Royal Family means that next year the Queen will receive £37.89
million from the State, a 5 per cent increase on this year's Sovereign Grant of £ 36 million.
That figure was itself £ 2 million more than Buckingham Palace expected...........and the number of food banks
increases all the time

It would appear Charlie does not approve of the work our FINANCE jOHNNIES
are doing to prevent the nations coffers to receive it`s just contribution.
He must also feel the same as he does about TAX AVOIDANCE as TAX EVASION
Question to the Chancellor of the Exchequer ........
*** Charlie Elphicke (Dover, Conservative)
As so little has been done about problems of tax avoidance over the past decade,
can the Chancellor confirm that HMRC will have the resources and the cultural
enthusiasm it needs to tackle tax avoidance?
Would our Right Honorable Right Winger not agree ?

I repeat Reg - avoiding tax is the right of everybody, evasion is illegal. Even you have a perfectly legal right to take steps to mitigate legally your tax that the law does not require you to pay. A judge has ruled it is the duty of financial advisers and accountants to help clients in this respect. I am proud to advise people, within my scope of advice, how to do this. Anybody who says they are happy to pay more tax than they legally have to is a liar, gullable or insane.

Paul.
If BarryW is spot on, then you both have to start defending those that avoid working by finding loopholes in the benefits system.
If they are both legal and you have no morals about one, then you must defend the other.
Yes?

No Gary , what is legal is defendable, what is illegal is not.
If loopholes need sorting out, so be it.
That's for our Parliament/Government to sort.
As you point out there is no difference to a welfare claimant or a rich corporation.
The same maxim applies.

disagree paul, i think gary is right on this one - he refers to loopholes.
the finance johnnies are praised for their acumen in expoliting them but, for want of a better word - a chav is seen as a low life for doing the same.

Agree Howard........````loop·hole
n.
1. A way of escaping a difficulty, especially an omission or ambiguity in the wording
of a contract or law that provides a means of evading compliance.............sounds like Tax Avoidance to me......

Defendable, legal and ultimately acceptable. People talk as if these terms are absolute.
