What a shame the envious, intellectually bankrupt Left have made 'elite' a dirty word, and consider striving to be the best as elitism. It's anti-Darwinian and will breed endless future generations of people who will feel proud to scrounge. It's already happening.
People should be allowed to be proud of their achievements, even if it's a £17m bonus. I know a man who received an £8m bonus a few years ago; after setting up a trust fund for his severely disabled daughter he gave the rest to charity. I expect some would say he only did that for the tax relief; well in fact he's not a UK resident and had to pay tax on it anyway.

It is difficult to explain to someone who has nowt, not knowing where next meal coming from, or how to pay the bills, when others are doing ok by legally giving themselves millions.
hard to justify to those without

I have often described WS as the Jeffrey Archer of his time.

Although not quite in the league of the ELITE PIGS over the years councillors expenses started to be published every so often,
What we never saw was the number of officers on all 3 councils in the top tiers and the high amount they were getting.
With chief executives on both KCC and DDC getting over £130,000, then many other senior tier officers earning nearly as much
then the next tier down(in district council)
it would be interesting to know how many officers were getting over £90,000 im sure the figure would be high
That would not take into account those getting just below that
There is arguments for/against whether or not they should get these amounts

With the new welfare cuts yet to to be felt by millions our ``caring``Chancellor awards
our `hard up` Bankers a £ One Billion....secret tax break.
The fine print of the budget reveals he is increasing the `list`of ways Banks can
reduce their corporation tax bill.
For the first timenew forms of debt interest payments will become tax deductible.
Ossie will face questions in Parliament over his new ``stealth tax break.

Envy, spite and ignorance is not a basis to run an economy on. That really is all we get from so many here.

Barryw geezer, you can keep on bleating on in your own little world, thats fine.
Yep, I care, big time.
So many Issues out there remaining unresolved, bankers just being one of them, whilst others struggle to find where the next meal comes from, bankers again the ones to be helped.
Comes back to fairness, and how this is seen by the public at large

Another example of what I refer to in #2574 Keith.
You do nothing but whinge about 'fairness' but have no suggestions on how to repair the economy. You blame bankers but that is just your scapegoat for all the economic screw-ups of the 13 years of Labour mis-rule.

Yes Keith - as I have said before some other countries made the same kind of mistakes your mob did, overspending, overborrowing, overtaxing. That is no excuse for the many clear economic problems caused by Brown/Blair et al. The UK would not be in nearly as deep a mess as it is now if the economy had not been run as if Brown had 'banned boom and bust' building up bigger and bigger deficits and debt during the period of economic growth.

2 1/2 years only Keith, a year longer than you thought they would last and trying to deal with a situation that was 10 years in the making. Lets be clear though, they are nevertheless not doing enough to solve the problems Labour created. They are not cutting public spending fast enough or deeply enough, they need to cut taxes specially at the higher marginal rates and they need to institute supply-side reform to reduce the costs and risks to employers of employing people and conducting business.
Would you be more supportive if they did all the things I identified that are needed?
I though not.
You cannot have it both ways.
