finance wizard the shadow chancellor sets out his ideas, would be interesting to hear what our politically inclined posters would do in george's position.

Usual platitudes from Balls that involves more borrowing and spending. We are a low paid high tax economy and it should be the other way round.
His economics will drive us over the cliff the way labour govts always do.

so what would you prescribe david, the 40 pence tax rate is coming up for much discussion and political posturing right now?

There's too many people looking for too few jobs Howard, it's an employers market which is why wages are low and so many have zero hour contracts.
Yet the main parties still wave more people into the country. Fiddling with a couple of % here and there is irrelevant when nearly 3m are unemployed.

and whats immigrants got to do with it david.14% of new start ups are immigrants.

Brian, we have nearly 3m unemployed, the last thing we need is more unskilled labour. Dozens of people apply for each vacancy which means employers can pay very little, it's time to redress the balance.
Surely as a labour supporter your priority is to get the unemployed into work, please explain to me how importing competition helps.

Brian, if you saw the politics show today you will have seen Farage confirming what I told Clair Hawkins last week, that UKIP are attracting more support from labour voters than anywhere else. Listening to Milliband and Balls it's hardly surprising, these people are betraying the people they're paid to represent.
You keep sticking up for immigration Brian, I'll keep sticking up for the working man.

david,as I said 14% of the new start up business is coming from imigrants.these become employers who pay into the system.or are you that blind that you cant see whats happening. just look around dover and see how many shops are run by imigrants, [mostly polish.].

and besides that giving dover as example, have a look around kent to see how many other shops are run by imigrants.

Brian, please read what I wrote and not your interpretation.
We need to take control of our borders in order to choose the people we want or need, just like Australia. If somebody has the resources to come here and start a business then fine, but for the umpteenth time we don't need more unskilled labour.
I'm sure that as a labour supporter who cares about the working man you agree with that.

something for the chancellor to digest - 5 families own more together than 20% of the poorest in our country.

david, some bad news on that front.under eu law we supposed to have an open border.but saying that we the uk plc don't have an open border.we are the only idiots who have a closed border, the other 26 have and have no problems like we have.try driving back from france via calias with your passport ready,it takes up to 1/2 hour plus on a good day to get to the cheak in booths.i pit your and ukips version down as paranoid.

Sorry Brian you've lost me, I think you've moved on to passport control.
Anyway that's by the by, we will campaign to leave the EU and give our young better chance in the job market, if you disagree I respect your opinion.

Well some of those 3 million can be put to work with buckets and mops bailing out the 15,000 homes which are set to be built in Ebbsfleet.
Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone. That area will be prone to flooding especially after the construction of thousands of houses. Don't tell George he'll be very upset.

i saw that the other days with politicians crowing about this great success.
do they ever wonder about why floods happen with more regularity?
i am talking about before this winter's rain, the more houses are built the worse the problem gets.
