I turn my back for a week's holiday (and am sitting here whilst a giraffe has wandered over to eye-up my Primarnie t shirt) only to find out our PM has added 21 MPs to a party that isn't his. What are you lot playing at?

It’s a a variation of scrabble without an ending Button, called scramble. Each participant is blinkered and wear earplugs and have to speak with a plum in their mouths.
The winners are unknown but the losers are more obvious........I hear that it could be out in time for Christmas!
p.s. Get back quick before it all goes belly up and they forget where the borders are!

I know that Churchill, a leader of whom I assume Sue would be proud, crossed the floor of the House, but herding rather more colleagues to do the same is on a different level. Not quite what one might call a 'broad church' then. Oh well, I look forward to the various manifestos...

So the Tory party ticket was Brexit at any cost, was it? Funny. I must have missed that bit.

On a point of fact, Churchill was a Conservative who 'crossed the floor' to join the Liberals. (A 'disgrace', as he didn't resign.) He later lost his seat, swapped parties again and was elected as a Conservative.

Not quite true Kimmie...."Campaigner Gina Miller has lost a judicial review she brought to London's High Court over the prorogation. However, permission has been granted for the case to be heard in the UK Supreme Court on 17 September."
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49609677
Also from the same article......
"Liz Saville Roberts, Plaid Cymru's Westminster leader, said there was an "opportunity to bring down Boris" and "we should take that"."
At last an honest response to explain the anti Brexit agenda in Westminster. Never mind what the electorate expected from the referendum result certain politicians have now decided it is a good way to get rid of someone they dislike.
Boris is not as clever as he thought and has fallen into a well orchestrated plot against him and Brexit.

Forget the court case, Kimmie, that's been overtaken by events. The Leader of the House, JRM (who is having an absolute shocker by the way) confirmed that Parliament will not be prorogued until after the no deal bill had gone through anyway.
More generally, I think Boris and Cummings have been caught out by how well organised the opposition parties are. Just like they assumed the EU would fight among themselves. The Tory party actually appears to be in blind panic at this point because Corbyn didn't take the election bait. I've been so impressed with Corbyn recently - not something I saw myself saying!

The Benn (No Deal) bill has just this second been approved by the House of Lords. It will now go for Royal Assent.
I think this might be a good thing - it'll mean Boris has cover from Farage and the ERG to go for a deal, because he can just turn around to them and say "well, what else was I going to do? not my fault!". I also think the public will take any deal right now, as anything is better than talking about it endlessly.
