I see that the SNP version of Lady Macbeth has called for talks with the EU over Scotland's future relationship with them. Naturally they have told her where to go as they are still part of the United Kingdom. It looks likely that a referendum will be held and Scotland will cut ties with us but I think they will have great difficulty in securing membership of the EU as they won't be nett contributors.

Foreign Policy is not devolved, so there is no question of Scotland being able to do its own thing outside of a referendum. However, those calls for a Referendum are legitimate following Brexit.
Having said that, I agree entirely with Howard, I cannot see the EU welcoming Scotland with all the associated financial uncertainty, and of course, Spain is always going to veto Scotland in any event.

Cannot see the two Irelands joining up the Unionist majority would never accept rule from Dublin.

The majority of N Ireland would never want to split from UK it is only the same republican opportunism that the terrorist Adams has always tried since he became legit

This is sad to see but we spend a lot of time in Scotland and I tell you it is not like that only in the big citys and towns and you can pick that kind of thing in England to, even in our own town of Dover. But you need to go and see the true Scotland and the highlands in it and wildlife we love it and will be going again very soon.

The article is on the First Minister's constituency and makes no reference to Scotland as a whole.

The First Minister seems to be losing the plot, Scotland cannot do separate deals with EU member states with or without the UK having access to the single market.

I think this is a mechanism to exert pressure and to keep their agenda at the forefront of any ongoing debate with regards to Brexit. The First Minister needs for the two to be irrevocably entwined within the Scottish conciseness or the conciseness of what it is to be Scottish.

At least Scottish voters (and those in Gibraltar for that matter) had access to the referendum; the Channel Islands and I think the Isle of Man did not.

Being as they are self governing crown dependencies and not part of the United Kingdom that only seems right to me.
