Reading this forum and elsewhere people's attitude to the wintry conditions vary.I recall a few years back being at DDC looked out of the window. to see a blizzard.I managed to get a taxi to the three cups did not go for a drink I might add .The taxi driver felt he would get stuck if he ventured into River.I then walked home along Lewisham Road to Chilton Way.I was about seventy.thought nothing of it.Now No one seems to care about their neighboursHere In Sanctuary Close because of the hill and the the land lies low we get black ice..Luckily my younger son says he will pop round and put some salt down .We have these salt bins around the village but half the time no one bothers to use them .I wish I was able to get out and help but age has caught up with me.
The same about getting to work ,Im pleased my Grand daughter was able to get tp William Harvey where she is a nurse.
In my younger days I was a telephonist and I recall getting the train from Slough to Iver where I worked.I had to walk nearly a mile to get to the exchange in snow drifts .If you did not go to work people could not use their phones.
I also had to help my dad when I was a child deliver milk .everyone expected their milk.
We were brought up tough. So now it makes me sad that a lot of people donot enquire how their neighbours are.

Had a walk into town this morning and once I reached the Folkestone Road there were no slippery patches and the town centre was completely clear. Unfortunately most people must have looked out of their window and decided everything would grind to a halt. A bus even went up Military Hill.

The cold weather certainly sharpens appetites, the cat came in this morning and I had to refill her bowl twice and the bird feeders have taken a bashing.

It's 11.40 and I've just 'phoned my Doctor's Surgery in Deal for an appointment. Not urgent. Hoping for something in next two weeks.
Can I do 16.40 this afternoon? Loads of cancellations due to weather!
Thank you wimps!

Just chatted to my friendly Yodel delivery man, all Dover roads he has been on are OK, he is not so sure about the rural routes this afternoon.

A couple of hours' white glory for those of a boreal disposition to revel in after almost four years of snow drought.
Here is a picture I took, albeit of Canterbury.

Sarcastic and gratuitously hostile.

Especially for Captain Haddock. Whoever they may be.

Met Office issues a weather warning for more snow and ice across Kent.

My carer was just saying how much she enjoyed the light touch of frost earlier in the week and how she is keeping her fingers crossed that she might wake up to a good 6".

That's global warming for you, normally a light touch of frost is followed by prolonged icy spells in the southern counties

The snow has done Dane John Gardens a favour as the last few times I have visited in good weather there was plenty of anti social behaviour going on. I wouldn't like to live in those houses to the side however nice they are.
