There has been some debate on the forum about other forums all who have there ideas as to what is good
Being a member for some time i have enjoyed all the posts which are very varied, and some i totaly disagree with, whilst others i support
but i has enriched the forum.
On top of this we get up to date news on whats happening around the town, something even the local media lifts articles direct from the forum as its so newsworthy and they are unable to do such a good job.
Having heard of this other local forum i thought i would dip my toes in to see what it was all about, to my surprize after a few posts i found myself facing a ban because i dared to give an alternative view, and none of it was even controversial.
what i have found strange is the very person who wanted sid perkins banned for his views on the pope etc is now his best buddy!!!
What is strange is if people dislike dover forum so much, why do they keep posting?
for me dover forum is a more lively forum and long may it continue,
suppose its all about choice

Some good points there Keith, the amount of posts on here on such varied topics is something Dover Locals can only dream of, each to his/her own and it there is room for both, but the place to be for Local News and debate is on here, long may it continue.

I visit both forums, but I have to say Dover Forum comes out trumps for latest news and variety.
Both have their uses and any debate/chatter/news relating to our local area can only be good for everyone.

Good post Keith. I have never gone onto the other forum myself.

I admit I went to the other forum for a while between the old Doverforum being closed and the new set up happening. I was wrongly accused of something by a newcomer; it was then that people showed their true colours and let's just say it wasn't nice. I continued posting for a while but my heart wasn't in it so I left. Whilst people may not always agree on Doverforum, I can only speak for myself in saying I have NEVER had a problem here. It just seems friendlier, like a family to me. I wish only the best to other forums; we all find where we are happiest in the end - one, both or none.

agree that there is space for two forums, i looked in yesterday evening and most of the posts seemed to be about this forum from past and present members.
some under pseudonyms but obvious who they were, credit to sid perkins for not trying to hide behind one, but still holds strange views, the latest being that we are funded by the taxpayer.

But you were initially Howard, funded by Keef as KCC councillor.

I must admit 2-3 years ago I posted on Dover Locals but had a major fallout with a 'something' fairy who disagreed most rudely on my views about the War Memorial project.

not in my time terry, i seem to remember keith donating some of the money that councillors are given to spend on local projects.
that was once only and must have been 6 or 7 years ago, paulb will remember more.

Yes we did have a payment from Keef and yes it feels like long ago I dont remember how long now. But yes it was a one off payment that helped us get going again after the original one brokedown. It didnt cover the full amount needed but certainly helped..and hopefully we have provided a good service ever since.

I enjoy dipping in to the forum, and there are some very nice and decent people lurking around on it! But I must say I don't enjoy the petty political point-scoring that goes on. Juvenile, counterproductive and serving only to deflect away from the real issues facing Dover and district, in my opinion. Plastic politicking is half the problem with my home town, and is responsible to a large extent for Dover's decades-long inertia and steep decline.
Keep party politics out of local government. That's my mantra. Simple as that.
Cheers all,
Andy

Actually Andy I dont mind the political squabbling, I hold all politicians in contempt so I'm neutral. Forums are essentially pub arguments without the beer and fisticuffs

#14, I can certainly do without the fisticuffs, but the beer definitely helps.

well done for digging that one out terry, even the express and mercury covered the story.
funny how the people in the picture all look about 5 years younger.
it appears that without keith we wouldn't have had a forum that is still going strong today.

Andrew #13. I could not agree more, so many threads about national politics but that is what most of the men who dominate this forum seem to thrive on.
I fail to understand the them and us mentality that is so prevalent about the other forum both are excellent in their own different ways. I am glad I can participate in both even if it is only to give a little stir now and then.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

the other forum rarely gets a mention here jan, as you know this forum features very heavily there and you have contributed to the feeding frenzy.
