Which of the cateogories are you nominated in John, I will be there for Crabble Corn Mill in Tourism but with Dover Castle and the Museum in the same group I am not very confident. Still I am sure it will be a good and interesting evening, may see you there.

Wasn't advertised much was it? A bit lacking in sponsors I see.
Good luck Harry & John.

Good luck John.
[Who is ever going to remember Tom Museum and Dick Castle*? But, Harry Mill. Now there's a name to conjure with.]
Good luck Harry.
*Believe you me, it was never going to work as 'Tom Castle'.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Yes indeed, good luck to you both. This event 'passed me by' and I had no idea it was going on. The website says nothing at all about who is behind it.

To answer John's question in post #1, I doubt it. Not at £45 a ticket.

I say chaps, I've had this brilliant idea. Invite selected businesses to enter for an award, set up a website, issue parchments or a "silver" thing from a trophy shop and then charge ridiculous amounts to the public to watch them being given out.
How's that for a money spinner?!

as a way of making it more affordable, instead of paying 45 quid a ticket get up a table of ten and only pay £.450.

The Awards has the backing of all three town councils, as well as the Minister for Business and Enterprise. Members of the Dover town council were also involved in the judging.
I started the awards to provide a platform for local businesses to be rewarded and recognise
In response to the price - each finalist received a free ticket, which includes a three course meal before the awards presentation takes place. Therefore the price of additional tickets needed to cover the cost of the comp tickets, and please take into account the time involved, cost of venue hire/catering etc etc.
As you pointed out Keith there are a lack of sponosrs, which in a low budget for marketing, however the awards did receive a lot of press coverage.
