08:3867913Very glad to hear the problem is sorted. The computer I use for nearly all Dover War Memorial Project processing came from Dave; he's always been great
I might not say the same about PC-World ...

22:2776308Wouldn't touch PCWorld with a barge pole any more. They replaced their technicians with salesmen/women who know absolutely zip about computers. The last time I went to the one in Canterbury I was looking for a new system and asked one simple question - does it have a parallel printer port (to support my existing printer) rather than just a USB port. The blank look I got said it all. In the end I just asked them to turn the box around so I could see the back plate.
I did buy a system from them in the end but did my research on-line first. I went back and simply asked for the particular make and model I wanted and even then got into an argument about additional insurance! A waste of time that was going to be as I invalidated the insurance within an hour of getting it home by opening it up and adding another couple of hard drives!!!
Now I just pop around to Castle Computers in London Road and talk to sensible people.

22:4076315I am very lucky where I live we have a person who is great with repairs to PCs and he does not take anything for repairing it only for parts.

22:4576317Thank goodness for my son-in-law who is bit of a computer buff

. He recently had to install a new motherboard for me, without him I would have bought a new computer, thinking the whole thing had died.
