A speech impediment is not the same as tourettes but regardless have you not seen and heard about Ball's behaviour? The man deserves no sympathy.
Crass, insensitive - no, but I am not over sensitive and sadly far too many people are these days and seem to have forgotten the old saying 'sticks and bones'. What I am certainly not is politically correct, that's something that I despise.

There are bigger things in the world to worry about than a passing comment which may have been badly worded....
Been nice knowing you :)
But those things make the building blocks for the greater abuses. Please see below:
And Barry - this is so not about Ed Balls. Try again.

Yes they do Bern, but sometimes too much time is spent on these things and people lose sight of the real problems...
Been nice knowing you :)
I wouldn't argue with that - sometimes it is used to good effect by politicians! - but these things do actually matter. Language and the words we choose to use matter in a very profound way.

But Bern - context is also important and to whom comments are aimed. What I can, might and justifiably say to a man like Balls, I would not say to someone else.
IT ISNT ABOUT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

But that is the point Bern - the comment was aimed at him in respect of his behaviour. To try to claim that it was somehow being insulting towards ordinary tourettes sufferers is stretching it too far. These things are best taken at face value. Balls does not suffer that condition so he has no excuses or sensible reasons for his idiotic gestures and mouthing - that is where the insult lays.
Barry. Listen. "His idiotic gestures and mouthing" says it all - you are equating that with someone with a disability, tourettes. Surely you can see how insulting that is?

Only to Balls Bern. The simple reason is that tourettes suffers cannot help the effect their condition has on them You cannot pretend their behaviour is 'normal' or it would not be a syndrome in the first place and I am sure that they would agree with that. Balls has no excuse or sensible reason's (the latter because I would not want to label tourettes sufferers as using a mere excuse as I would see that as an insult) for his strange behaviour hence the insult aimed at Balls only.
Barry - you are insulting someone by inferring he has a specific disability. That insults the people with that disability by inferring that being them is a bad thing. I am trying this in monosyllables in an attempt to enable you to understand. By using that diagnosis as an insult, you belittle the people with it. FFS
Help me out here someone..............

I disagree Bern. I think that stretches the point to far and reading into it things that are not there. By no means it infers being 'them' is a bad thing - the disability is a bad thing, not them. I certainly do not see it as belittling people with tourettes in any way at all. Like I say I think you simply read too much into it and that really is the problem we have here that far too many people these days do that. It was an simply an insult aimed at a specific man's behaviour for which he had no sensible reason or excuse.

Bern you are, ofcourse, correct................and patient beyond belief..........unfortunately when someone continuously
makes provocatively.outrageous comments they are practised also in continuously defending their statements inorder
not to agree with reasoned replies/arguements...........that way they feel they have won the debate.
When they are in a deep hole...........best they stop digging..............not holding breath.

Reg - we have a simple disagreement over such matters and view the world differently. Thankfully we do not all agree.

Bern.
Perhaps if Cam had regarded Balls has having narcissistic tendencies when trying to insult him, others might get the point.
