Hi Paul,
Ok you're right, I did go a bit over the top - blame it on frustration at a very bad day! Anyway I should have known better and I apologise, won't happen again sir!
Hi Bern,
You are right too and I also apologise to you for being to personal about another member, it was nasty of me and I'm sorry.
Hi Keith,
Ok - drop me a line or phone me when you're back on hotmail.
I was nice about Sue though!
Hope that's all sorted now because I didn't mean to upset anyone - a big sorry from me
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Your remarks did not offend me as much as the person who referred to the duly elected government being 'scumbags'.
I believe that MPs from all parties work very hard and genuinely try to do their best for the British People. Remarks such as that used are crude, highly offensive and do the person no credit whatsoever.
It certainly made me wonder whether I wished to continue posting on the site.
However the vast majority of contributors make interesting and informative comments so I think all in all you'll have to put up with me a bit longer.

Dave1, pleased to offend. Do go to the political section and read that remark in the context it was made, fully justified. Inadequate as it is there is no other expression that can do justice to the disgusting way the troops are treated.

Im afraid I take a strong view on these latest postings by BAZ
and the latest in reply to Dave1
Theres a difference between getting realy wild and throwing in a posting, and then like Jacqui upon reflection saying sorry because it was seen as offensive.
I take the stand now that BAZ should apologise on here as these type of comments cannot be left s they are
we need harmony and this has offended many posters.
I wouldn't usually take stand like this but it cannot be left.

Keith, Barry has the right to his comments, but there is no need for comments like that and Dave I think you are right, but unless you are plugged into the Tory Download and voice anything that is backed by Tory Party Office it will always appear to Barry like that,no one is allowed to think for themselves, that is why Labour in Dover will always have the edge, still no answer Barry in the question why don't you stand in Tower Hamlets next time,we would look forward to a real challenge and perhaps it might silence you for a while if you lost ....well 5 mins if we are lucky!
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Actualy john, yes BAZ has a right to a view, but you have to decide if a lot of posters are offended b the launguage used do you allow it to continue?
Im all for freedom of speech, but this went to far
OK - chill, take a step backwards, and breeeeathe. Now - how about we all just agree to be courteous, assertive but honest and that we all have the right to opinions AND respect....and thank you Jacqui - a lovely, grown up response whioch I can admire and respect.

john makes a good point.
free speech etc, but propaganda downloaded and repeated on here is not really what the forum is about.
neither is abusive language.

The Conservative web-site doesn't have words like scumbag on it and although Barry does use articles from the Tory web-site, he can more than think for himself and use his own arguments - very strongly.
It was his disgust of how our troops are treated, which I think all normal thinking people also feel, that caused him to call them scumbags - it wasn't at any individual - but the body responsible.
Most of the objections have been made by Labour voters/supporters and Barry is a Conservative, so I think there is more than an element of politics involved in this grumble about that word.
I too think it is disgusting the way our troops are treated and I don't know what appropriate word to describe the "apparant" contempt the current government have for our soldiers, sailors and airmen.
Respect and value doesn't come into it.

Jeezez...BarryW can you lighten up a wee bit. It is not productive to be offending other members. People come on here on a voluntary basis, they wont come on if they are being insulted so its self defeating. So come along now me laddo..
Dave you have made some very valuable contributions in Political Comment and elsewhere so well done. Keep going.
It is difficult keeping a neutral road going that suits all tastes but we have to try to keep a balance that appeals to all members.

Well said Paul.I was at a meeting yesterday and it was mentioned Gwyn Prosser Labour was at an important meeting as was the other chap .I had to say Charlie Elphicke. When Im out with my portfolio hat on I have to remain neutral.I only preach politics when Im supporting a candidate for an election .The rest of the time i get on with the job.You can easily loose friends if you spout of all the time.My daughter does not hold my belief nor her husband the boys follow me.Thats why I count amongst my friends Keefy and John.I respect them for the work they do.Kevin Mills is another friend.
I have my views, but I count amongst my friends such a wide variety of people!! Honestly, it's only by listening, hearing and being humble enough to respect everyone that we can grow and change. It's a blast!!

Nothing to do with Politics Roger, next we will have swearing if we don't stop it now and Big Paul will not be happy! I work in a place where we have to put up with that sort of language then after that it is foul language the next step is threats and then violence, now I know Barry isn't like that but using that word to describe anyone is not on,on a public forum.
That is not to say that we all know people that can be described as that, but it certinally not a word I would use to describe anyone, perhaps it is my Secondary School upbringing, spelling mistakes are exceptible but no bad language!
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Thanks Roger. Yes, my comments on the political section was indeed directed at the Government as a 'body corporate' in respect of how the troops are abused, something I feel particularly strongly about, not at any individual or any Labour supporters on the forum.
Look around folks, look at some of the links on politicshome.com and you will see much nastier things being said of the Government. Some of the revelations in recent biographies are staggeringly cruel and personal and thats against former friends....
I avoid personal attacks on 'forumites', though I have regularly been subject to that from various sources and I dont bleat on about being offended, though I have sometimes bitten back. As far as I am concerned if you put your head above the parapet then you can be shot at and that includes any Government (or Opposition), me and anyone else.
I have posted before, in general terms, about the tendancy of people to claim to be 'offended' and this obsession, in so many aspects of life, to avoid offending. People can take offense too easily these days, but its not something that actually hurts you, I see it as part of the pc culture that can be so destructive. Part of what I said at the time in that respect was that it is good to be offended, be grateful, because you know you are alive and not brain dead. My response to Dave was with that in mind. I could have been very scathing in response instead but I actually did not want to get personal!
Dont get me wrong, I am not suggesting there should be carte clanche for anyone to offend anyone, things can be taken too far. I certainly do not see harsh words against a Government over an important issue such as this as being excessive. Just look at some of the things said about Mrs T in the past, some of it has been quite evil but I dont get on a high horse claiming to be offended, I just place a reasoned counter argument.
It seems, having not previously been involved, I got drawn into this already overheated thread somehow and I really dont see the relevance to my comments in the political section.
So yes, lets all lighten up a bit and keep the politics to that section.

The latest email from Lorraine:-
Hi
I have been given the transcript of the KCC-HOSC meeting of 9th May, the conclusion was:
"Dr Tony Robinson concluded by moving a resolution:
That the HOSC recommends and supports that the EKHT should work closely with the PCT and DDC, to identify an alternative site for a community hospital in Dover, which can provide the services needed. That this option should be delivered to the HOSC by end August 2008, for consideration as a third option along side the two that that have identified as possible developments at Buckland. "
I have been invited by the DDC Scrutiny Committee to present the case, on Tuesday 20 May at 6pm, It is open to the general public to attend but not to speak.
Lorraine Sencicle
Just to clarify, that meeting is up at the "fort" i.e. the place next to the tip!

This is a shame as it is on the same time as Mayor Making night, I'm sure that this will clash for many people who would like to attend both events.
