i have always liked the idea of a hotel/conference centre up there, i think the area is large enough to take it without causing any environmental damage.
i wouldn't like to see anymore than that though.

We (WHPS) are aware there is need for compromise and will do our best to ensure that whatever is done is done sensitively and appropriate for the site
First drafts were done as if the architects hasn't even been on site......
Been nice knowing you :)

It was discussed at the DDC Cabinet meeting today; I didn't get the opportunity to attend that, so don't know the outcome, but the decisions will be published soon.
There will be a consultation, so I expect the drafts will be updated and amended quite radically.

Invicta statue .... conference centre ...... improved retail offer ....... new ferry port ...... I believe it when I see it! We must be one of the few towns that creates more headlines than actual delivery. Can't we find some proper developers who will actually do something for the town, and quickly! What we need is economic development and jobs. Whilst the rest of the country (and world) moves on, Dover stays the same.

kevin
the developers on the dtiz project have a good track record at getting things done.
hopefully that will be the case here.

We can but hope, Howard! In the meantime, people (and investors) are voting with their feet.

have to agree but also the unresolved port issue does not encourage people to invest here.
at least with the dtiz we know that work will start on the hotel by the end of the year.

Voting with their feet right across East Kent - I've started a new topic on the news that Manston Airport has been put up for sale too.

Despite what many of you are saying, there are developers and investers wanting to come here and are actively talking to DDC about plans. I wouldn't say queueing up, because they don't need to queue.
I agree that things may look to be moving very slowly, but they are moving forward as quickly as they can - their speed (or lack of) is nothing to do with DDC.
