Perhaps they could put Watt Tyler in the saddle waving a flat-cap and crying aloud, "hey-ho gold (reserves) away!"

It's funny isn't it? If they're not putting giant tellies in the most awkward of places which lower the tone (not that difficult to do) then they want to blight our countryside with either wind turbines or giant metal horses.
Haven't they seen the angel of the north?
Far better idea to construct a giant dinosaur instead as a testament to the years of neglect in Dover.

"The Kent Invicta statue will not only provide a powerful reminder of the county of Kent's rich and proud heritage, and its vitally important role as the gateway to Britain, but it can also provide inspiration for future generations, serving as a symbol for ambition, optimism and self belief."
If only.

The "gateway to Britain" idea brings pictures of a doormat or of an arrow (pointing out of and away from...) to mind.
Why not something that could bring the county together?
A series of concave listening structures, similar to the ones on the coast, so that the people of Kent (of the whole of Britain?) could 'talk' to one-another?
An Amphitheatre? Somewhere for Philips TV screen?

Why not, Darren(?). [I recall that the bones of other exotics have been dug up around the SE.]
And in the local teams colours too.

Building that would be a mammoth task, DT1.

Tsk, Tsk, such cynicism.
I wonder if it would affect tv reception in Capel

All together now -
To Bombay a travelling circus came
They brought an intelligent elephant
and Nellie was her name
One dark night she slipped her iron chain,
and off she ran to Hindustan
and was never seen again
oooooooooooooooooo...
[Chorus:]
Nellie the elephant packed her trunk
and said goodbye to the circus
off she rode with a trumpety trump
trump trump trump
Nellie the elephant packed her trunk
and trundled off to the jungle
off she rode with a trumpety trump
trump trump trump
Night by night she danced to the circus band
When Nellie was leading the big parade
she looked so proud and grand
No more tricks for Nellie to perform
They taught her how to take a bow
and she took the crowd by storm
oooooooooooooooooo...
[Chorus x2]
The head of the heard was calling far far away
they met one night in silver light
on the road to Mandalay
