Howard how very true, they should have been sprayed earlier this month before they got so big and started to set seed.
Next time you are in Salisbury Road/Frith Road area how about a picture then we might get the nettles and weeds sprayed and overgrown trees cut. The bush that is half way over the Maison Dieu Road path by Morrisons might get trimmed as well, I always seem to get there at the same time as other pedestrians or cyclists.

What about all the other roads in River Sue? While you are at it, the Abbey is in a terrible state, worse than ever.
Can't remember our environment looking so shabby. Maybe the Councillors should be issued with backpack sprayers so that they can spray the weeds whilst walking round their Wards making sure their electorate are all satisfied with the job they are doing.
Never see our Councillors unless there is an election.

i had a quick glance down your road on the way back from the "pimms in the park" event jan.
it is beyond spraying unless they use agent orange like the americans dropped in vietnam.

no excuse for the vegetation brian cutbacks or not.
the costs involved in spraying are miniscule in the great scheme of things.

What surprises me is the lack of cutting bushes/branches back on the paths. One on Connaught Hill has had me walking in the road to get around it all year!! Tempted to take some cutters down myself!

Thanks a bunch .Ive taken the trouble to report a couple of roads and all i get is negativity .For your information Dover District is the only one getting a second respray. So if you live in one of the other eleven districts they will not be done.
John you could do your bit and report the weeds in your ward .
Simon the top half of the Abbey is not cut back its got to be left to grow wild .
Look out for another thread Im starting , I was in Minnis Lane the other day came home with five problems to deal with.
Today I picked up litter in Chilton Way ..

Don't know what happened to the first spray, we didn't get one in Lydden and looks like many other places missed out too.

how can we not be negative about the situation sue?
i thought it was just the town but now i read that the forgotten outpost of lydden has been treated or not treated badly.
sylvie and chums in the town centre and colette and cohorts in connaught park have done wonders in much more demanding tasks yet ddc cannot even spray weeds.

If I see weeds around me I go out and spray them. I don't wait for the council to pay expensive contractors to do it.

Obviously not all the town's roads were sprayed before, mine wasn't unless they stupidly sprayed prior to the growing season.
We did get a useless road sweeper down the middle of the road twice in seven days so we should be grateful I suppose.

But you can help by doing any outside where you live some of the trees with weeds round them in River are right out houses so if there is one out side yours do it yourself, same if they are growing on the paths etc if we all done it then alot of areas like River would look a great deal better ,we all know there are big cut backs going on at this time so get out there and do it yourself. When I lived and worked in a parish in Germany even the phone boxs bus stops was done by the public living there.

Good suggestion, Vic. Dare I mention "Big Society"!
Always amazes me when you visit Mediterranean countries - home and business owners out every morning clearing up the area in front of their property.
