Just to warn everyone
the establishment WIZE BUYS of 33 LONDON ROAD DOVER
Is one of those places you would want to stay away from.
There are a number of reasons why;
A person taking a £1,000 computer in threre was given just £250 for it !!!
and it was brand new !!!!
a number of otherb issues came to light upon further investigation
1; they are suppose to register with the KCC Trading standards and have a notice
in there window(no suchnotice)
2; they are supposed to keep a book on all items in and out of the shop
they have just loose reciepts and couldn't find the one relating to the
computer.
3; they take finger prints that, having asked the policve the shop has nothing
they canb do with finger prints so even the police have no idea why they
should hold such information.
4; of course number 3 problem also breaks the data protection act
Having challenged all these with the shop with few answers i have today
asked the KCC TRADING STANDARDS TO investigate the shop.
But thought i should warn others.
i will update any replies recieved

Sorry Keith, I hadn't spotted the request on the other TA thread. I had heard rumours but nothing more. As in all cases it's buyer or even seller beware.

with the computer maybe the shop were expecting to haggle with the vendor and used £.250 as a starting point?
even if the computer was brand new they would have to sell it for a lot less than the retail value.
who on earth would agree to be fingerprinted by a shop keeper?

The phone call scam from supposed Microsoft tech's is rife again. Lady in Deal spent nearly an hour on the phone with them, taking remote control over her machine and asking for payment of £115.00. Beware

Libel can be a very expensive game to play Keith, be sure of what you put in print.

Keith, a £1,000 brand-new computer might not at all be a £1,000 brand new computer. If it is being sold to another retailer after the original purchase, it is not new but second-hand.
The average new computer nowadays costs several hundred pounds, second-hand ones a lot less than that.
My pentium 4 cost me 50 quid inclusive delivery.

i think the issue is a little wider than just the computer as i highlighted
but in case of libel i will refrain from commenting to much more on this thread
but i know a shop i won't ever use in the future

This post is specifically for Keith Samsun1, i own the shop that you saw fit to slate in your post in December 2011, so lets get a few things straight shall we, what i buy and what i pay people is not your business ! The KCC registration has always been displayed behind the counter as it should be, it DOES NOT have to be displayed in the shop window. Fingerprint pads were initially supplied by the police. All purchased items over a certain amount are recorded and records kept. Lastly, what you have done and the fact that it has been allowed to stand on this forum is indeed libelous, the fact that you said you will be 'uping the anti on this shop over the new year' proves that. I have reported you and requested the post be removed, and have also taken legal advice.

Martin P
What would you have done ? Would you let someone who has no knowledge of you or your business slander you ? It is not acceptable and he should be held resposible for what he has said. I would rather have it in the public eye so people cannot just read his ignorant comments but also be told the truth

I am puzzled why you have responded 27 months later? Perhaps raising it again after so long is more damaging now than the original post? The original poster no longer posts on here and has not for several months.

there is hardly a business in dover or anywhere else for that matter that hasn't been attacked on social media, it is the times we live in.
martin makes a good point about the time lapse, the fact that carl is still trading says a lot about the effect that one disgruntled customer has had.

I agree with Martin, strange to resurrect a derogatory post after all this time.

I don't understand the problem. If you went to a car dealer and sold him your car, you would expect to see it on his forecourt after a couple of days at two or three times the price he gave you.
Shop owners have to make a profit, and secondhand computers are a risky purchase and don't hold their value very well as they are very quickly superceeded, and with business rates as high as they are, and the need to make a living on top of that, I feel the original complaint was more than a bit over the top.
If a shop owner doesn't offer you as much as you want, why not put it on gumtree or ebay or similar?

My point is this, I have only recently become aware of the post as someone had searched for my shop on a search engine and found the post slating my business, how many others may have done the same and thought better of having any dealings with me? if it was a customer I had somehow offended I could understand it somewhat but I cannot even recall this person being in my shop. His lack of knowledge of my shop says to me that he was just poking his nose in for no reason, unfortunately people who had read the post wouldn't have known that. The fact that the business was slated in the first place is bad enough (social media site or not) I am running that shop to earn a living and it is hard enough to do that if someone isn't slating you. I have emailed and asked that the post be removed as it is libelous, I have no wish to carry the thread on but want to get my point across to anyone who reads the first post
