This is not going anywhere soon.
I have nothing but admiration and respect for all the workers on the ground trying their best to solve this situation, and nothing but contempt for the planner who decided that Dover residents could be sacrificed.
I only hope that all the residents who need regular carers are still getting them, residents that are vital workers in the port and town are able to get to and from work, those vulnerable are able to get support and no one suffers because the emergency services can't get to them.
When this is over, there will be a big post-mortem I'm sure, but I bet the impact on Dover is not even mentioned.

I wonder if our illustrious MP will stop using the mantra “Keeping Dover Clear”!

I do wonder what she will say. I've sent an email to her today about this situation and got an out of office that says she is back on 4th Jan.
Just about sums it up.....

Good post AndyPol #126
Police have at last taken control of Townwall Street/Woolcomber Rd junction allowing traffic to be filtered alternatively towards the Docks.
Why effective traffic management was not in place at the advent of the French ban beats me. Anyone with a modicum of sense could have predicted what would happen to the streets of Dover.
Fully agree that Dover has once again been sacrificed with residents/carers/emergency services left helpless.
Have total admiration for those that battled through, often to their own discomfort to help those in need.

I can confirm that Barton Road is clear. Still couldn't park anywhere near the house mind.

I see 900 more military personnel are being deployed to this area so that must help regardless of whether they are testing or directing the lorries.
I have just seen my nurse neighbour who has just walked to Whitfield to collect her car that she had to leave there the other day after her extra long shift, she looked knackered, her paramedic husband had just gone to bed after his night shift. Full respect to all medics especially those working at this time of year, it has been a hard year.

It’s a shame the army was involved days ago. Some squaddies (with guns) could have helped keep the main junctions and the town clear

Lydden circuit is now being used for testing and somewhere the drivers can get a shower and food.

It was like being back in the early '70s wasn't it? I've been remembering pre Jubilee Way and the A20 when the two main routes in to town were Folkestone Road and Barton Road. When the lorries used to lay up on Barton Road and cut off all of the offshoot side roads during industrial disputes or bad weather. Used to piss my mum and granddad right off. I get where they were coming from now.
