Some good pics there PactrickS which highlights the problems the traffic creates for the town.
It must be a headache for all of you that live there; lets just hope that it all gets sorted out very soon.
I read somewhere that there are 2500 lorries still arriving in Dover daily to add to the already great traffic problems throughout the U.K.
Are the Dover ferries still handling unaccompanied freight?

Hopefully this might be the wake up call that Dover needs to oppose the siting of an Inland Border Freight Facility in Guston behind B&Q.

I expect all these drivers hanging around Dover will have to go to the back of the queue to get into the port when it re-opens.

Just thinking of the actual number of lorries rather than their unfortunate drivers. From the very start the lorries could have been loaded the drivers leave, sail across and new drivers from over the other side unload them, similar to the drops.
I really feel sorry for the foreign drivers stuck over here with so little help I am sure many even if they can travel many will not make it home for Christmas.

Unfortunate choice of slogan.

Glad I'm not a copper. Come to that, I'm glad I don't have to travel to my home town to submit my tax return.

We should be more selective regarding the lorries that we are currently still letting into the U.K.
This will only add to the catastrophic lorry jam situation and imagine the cost if we end up providing 10,000 covid tests at £300 a time (£3,00,000), if we bow to Macrons diktat.
In addition to the costs this would also deprive key workers of the tests that they deserve along with those who suspect that they have Covid symptoms.
We should prioritise U.K. drivers returning home for Christmas and bringing in essential supplies, not lorry loads of Raspberries, Strawberries, citrus fruits and other non essential foods. Then close the borders.
If we ever needed a reason to take back control of our borders........ this is the one!
Buy British.

Also glad I'm not a UK lorry driver heading home with a load of what has now been deemed inadmissible, non-essential food. And I'd feel really aggrieved if I'd made it to Dover only to find a protest meant I couldn't disembark.

If you were referring to my post Button:
I tried to change my post to read, “ We should prioritise U.K. drivers returning home for Christmas and
foreign lorry drivers bringing in essential supplies, not lorry loads of Raspberries, Strawberries, citrus fruits and other non essential foods. (I missed the deadline for changes)!
Thank you for pointing it out.

Natalie Elthicko has a cheek. How dare The French take control of their own borders eh? That's our rhetoric.
A lot of port workers have been quite correctly pissed off for months. Not allowed to visit anyone , but at the same time, having to deal with any Tom, Dick or Harry from anywhere who wants to visit (who have all self isolated for a fortnight once here of course
) .
The total ineptitude is totally mindboggling.

My understanding is that the PCR test the BBC are reporting takes up to 48 hours to give a result. Let's hope they go for Lateral Flow tests which take 30 minutes. Otherwise there are going to be lots of drivers sitting around for longer, and certainly will miss Christmas back home.
And where do all the drivers who test positive wait for 10 days......

It's an ever moving situation, now being reported that the lateral flow test might be accepted. It would certainly clear the lorries quicker.....

PCR has high false positives, and LF high false negatives. PCR never designed for the purpose for which it's being used. Neither PCR or LF properly evaluated for mass testing either. Monster chaos, the crazy love-child of government panic and scientific incompetence.

According to my academic sources the latest review of the quality of LF tests suggests reading the entrails of a chicken would be more accurate...
The review suggests they return at least 25% false negatives
The advice of the Royal College of Pathologists is that the LF tests are not sufficiently sensitive or accurate to rule out false negatives further all positive test should immediately be followed up with a lab run RT-PCR test and all and those with a negative should follow all current oral/respiratory health guidelines and monitor themselves for symptoms.
