OMG, Suzie Sue, how dreadful your experience, I thought Dover had won awards for their "clean loos", thankfully I haven't had to find out this for myself!, always thought it was abroad you got smelly loos, no need in this day and age.. for your misfortune

Not so much 'who the hell owns and runs them' Suzie Sue, but who misuses them.
As for not taking a pig in there, I'm surprised that you even entertained the idea!

This is rather surreal, how does the state of sea front toilets fit in with Town Council turmoil?

Any opportunity to have a go at town council!
I used the gents down there recently and they were fine. It must be down to the type of woman that uses the facilities causing the problems.

The Town Council do not run any bogs in Dover, they pay two businesses a fixed sum so that any member of the public can use them free of charge but nobody does as the Town Council don't tell anyone.

I beg to differ, it has everything to do with the DTC. Just who approves the quarterly payments to keep the loos sanitary, god knows what tourists think when they disembark the cruise ships? As the Town Clerk oversees everything the DTC do even, it has been alleged, that vetting of ALL correspondence to one & all at the Town Council. Surely before passing these payments to cleanse these areas of convenience surely checks to inspect these areas should be made before passing for payment?

Sorry to be boringly factual this is from the Town Council website.
Public Toilets
Dover Town Council have started up a scheme called Community Toilet Scheme whereby local business sign up and allow members of public into their premises to be able to use their facilities without being a customer.
The businesses currently signed up to the scheme in the Town are:
•McDonalds – Biggin Street
•Macari’s café – Pencester Road
•The Bull Inn – London Road
All other Public Toilets are owned and run by Dover District Council.

I am no fan of DTC as I think they are a waste of time but the continual negative comments gets us nowhere.
If someone feels that strongly about them go and get yourself elected and change things for the better rather than continually moaning about them.
