The word is that Cllrs Boulares and Dimmock have both fallen on their swords, add that to the problem that the Mayor is facing .we have a situation where the reds are back in control but led by an Independent.

To be brutally honest I think that most of them should step down if not now at the next election - the town council as it currently is is an irrelevance with very few councillors actually doing anything for the town or their wards. It is time for new blood.

Ideally it should be younger people with fresh ideas but most are married/have a partner/possibly children and they have too much on their plate to get involved. If they don't work locally they stand little chance of getting to meetings starting at 6 pm.
We have to remember too that despite the large budget they have their only statutory duty is allotments.

Dover Town Council in turmoil! Well I quite agree with comment No. 2. This year what with the recent scandal and earlier a Town Councillor turning up to a VJ Day memorial ceremony dressed in dressing gown and NO trousers, and Councillors posting stuff through letterboxes without Health & Safety training! This Town Council is a constant joke and costing the tax payer a huge amount of much needed funds to promote this valuable Cinque Port Town. What is the point of a Town Council?

Couldn't agree with you more Cherry, as Mr McS seems to prevaricate quite a lot in posting many topics, instead of stirring the proverbial, perhaps Mr Mc Sweeney (yes YOU, Mr Mc Twee) enlighten us on what YOU actually think yourself about OUR Town?

My angst is with Alison Burton. Unqualified to take on the job. For some crazy reason, we are paying something like £20.000.00, to qualify her for the job. She does a 3 and a half day week. A day at College, qualifying. Another day lecturing other would be Councillors, on how to be better Councillors. For which, yes indeed, she gets paid extra. This is an additional to the £52.000.00 salary she has. Full use of a 4 x 4 for her horse(s) etc. This is a life style most of us can only dream of.
Her attitude is beyond belief. Arrogant, and controlling. There is no customer or public care, and since she had taken this position. Which, once again is a public service one, paid for, out of public coffers. Our Town Council, persona, feel good factor, social integration, friendliness towards one another has nose dived.
There is a huge gap developing between them and us. The people of Dover, are warm and friendly, very loyal to their Town, truly they deserve much more.

Poisonous and his/her fellow troll need to address their anger management problems. I know of a chap that can help people who get worked up about insignificant matters that pass the rest of us by.

Lots of things posted on here are in my opinion very insignificant but are important to the poster. It might be a good idea if we could all remember that.

There is so much I could say on this subject but I will choose my words carefully as I once had a vested interest. The first thing I noticed about the postings is that those being most caustic are names not known to me and without knowing who they really are I consider their comments of no consequence even though I must confess I do agree with them in part.
My view is that the DTC should follow the fate of what was once the Mayoral car and consigned to history ( it's in our excellent Transport Museum ). This judgement is based purely on financial reasons as it is a vast extravagance for very little return as it was in my day.
Keep the pomp by all means but get rid of the pretence that the DTC is of physical value to the Town. I appreciate that I have raised my head above the parapet and have made myself a sitting target for which I will not be able to respond as I am off to Denmark tonight(working), so fire away but please be constructive.

Ken that is like saying I was king once but now the people (the Electorate) decided they don't want me lets do away with it. you didn't say that when you were Mayor, and I resigned as your Deputy.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Some of you might not know this but the Dover Town council are very big land owners in Dover owning a lot of the hill sides around the town ,they are a rich council with good funds behind them. And in some ways it is a good thing it has stopped a lot of housing building over the sky line of Dover.

Always rankles with me that the western Heights playing field has been left neglected for 15 years to my knowledge. Last year the Town Council commissioned a consultant to give a report on it but nothing more was said on the subject.
